Best puzzle game for the GBA?

I need more recommendations.

Kuru Kuru Kururin
Zooo
Denki Blocks
Gurulogi Champ
Mario vs. Donkey Kong

I've only played Kuru Kuru Kururin and Denki Blocks. I like Kuru better, more variety and good track design.

Denki was quite boring... haven't played that far so perhaps it picks up?

That'd be Gurulogi Champ. Not just the best puzzle game for the GBA, but one of the best ever made, in the elite class shared by only Tetris Attack and the original Tetris.

Kururin is fantastic as well.

Don't forget Pokemon Puzzle Challenge. It can be played on a GBA! Pokemon + Tetris Attack = best puzzle game ever.

MR DRILLER
I already played Mr.Driller once, and i must confess that i totally suck at drilling :( You had to drill 1000M or so and wtf i always died around 200M. I was either too slow and cautious and air did run out, or too fast and the blocks fell on my head. It must also take forever to get all the way down to 1000M.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is a decent game and... that's it. I enjoyed it, but it had a tendency to go out of control. It was too random. Which may be the core of the series (or not, it's not a statement, I have no idea) but still pisses me off sometimes. Thanks for the suggestions, there's a couple I didn't even know.

Granted I haven't played half of the games listed, the original Tetris release for the Game Boy is still my favorite puzzle game on any system. Too bad THQ seems to be the only publisher releasing handheld versions of Tetris nowadays-- Tetris Worlds stinks!

edit - Also, does anyone know if Chu Chu Rocket can be played in its true form on the Nintendo DS? With the four face buttons corresponding to the up,down, left, right placement arrows? I couldn't get used to using three fingers (one for each shoulder, thumb for face) with the GBA.

No, you can't play Chu Chu Rocket that way, since there's no way to map the L and R buttons on the DS to the X and Y buttons.

Yeah, Tetris is also still my all-time favorite puzzle game. Best version I've played in a long time is the for Palm OS from Handmark...it's just Tetris Classic, and is exactly like the GB version only in color and lacking music...like the original PC release. I play it on my phone all the time.

Tetris always seemed like the one game you couldn't really screw up, but THQ managed to do so some way. :lol

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. Just get it.

Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move is pretty good on GBA too, but something about the timing is slightly off if you're a long time fan of the series.

You know, I prefer this to Puzzle Fighter:

I was never fond of Dr. Mario. I like Puzzle Fighter because it's super fast, does a good job of livening up the general low key action of a puzzle game and has such spectacular come backs in 2 player mode. You can be on your last breathe and still come back to win. I love it.

But eh, to each his/her own.

Dr. Wario > Dr. Mario, btw ;)

Tetris Attack owns, no doubt. I haven't played it in ages...

I also liked Yoshi's Cookie & Mario Picross a ton. A DS update to either would rule.

Chu Chu Rocket. There's thousands of levels.

My dream is that if oline multiplayer ever happens with the DS, an online enabled Chu Chu Rocket comes out soon after that.

denki is by far the best I think. I like it more because its not skill based and more just thinking about it. Its also far harder than anything else.

Took me and my roomate switching on and off on the same denki blocks save file for like a month to finally beat everything. Whereas I could beat kururin games by myself in like a day or two. Though they are still extremely fun games.

Is the sequel to Kuru Kuru Kururin out yet?

Kururin Paradise has been out for a while in Japan, but it doesn't seem like it will come out here in Europe (or in the US for that matter). :(

Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo is my favorite falling block puzzle game, but those are more about reflexes than deep thought. For Puzzles, I love both Donkey Kongs (Donkey Kong 94 and Mario VS Donkey Kong), but nothing for GBA is as good as the NES Adventures of Lolo were, so I dearly hope that those do get NES classic treatment.

My favorite puzzle game of all time. :y:

I think... that with your love for TO:KoL and now SPF2T, I can only conclude that we are total opposites.

I feel that SPF2T is among the worst puzzle game I've played because it basically boils down to a "wait for the rainbow crystal to drop!" game. Sure there's some setting up you can do but it's extremely limited. Puyo Puyo OTOH, is the most skillful one I've come across. It takes a lot of skill to be able to set up chains properly.

I used to be a fan of Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack, but I think its flaw is that no matter how skillful it is to be on the offense, the defense can easily defend against those large drops because they have so much time to break them. Puyo Puyo has a similar way of setting up chains, and yet, the payoff is much much greater IMO.

It simply doesn't have any puzzles or other things that makes the puzzle genre, there is really no point in arguing about this. If it was one, trust me, it would've been mentioned in my first post and at least by ten other people.

Oh I'm sorry, it doesn't have blocks falling down into some pattern or some variation of that theme. You're right, it's no puzzle game.

Don't be stupid. It's not a puzzle game because... its not. It's like you're trying to argue that Metal Gear Solid 3 is a sports game, and then inferring that we're stupid because we don't think it is "just because it doesn't keep a score or have a ball."

You have to fill out the missing blocks in each puzzle with blue ones.

Been out in Japan for donkies, no sign of it coming this way though.

For shame!
