What are you favorite superhero movies that get rarely mentioned?

The Phantom (1996)

Its not one of the best superhero movies but I have always enjoyed it. Billy Zane plays The Phanom and Treat Williams is great as the villian. Catherine Zeta-Jones is also in the movie. It feels a bit like the Indiana Jones movies and its really fun to watch. Sad that it never got a sequel.

The Mask of Zorro (1998)

I wasn't sure if I should include this because I have seen people saying that Zorro isn't a superhero. If Batman is a superhero then Zorro is too. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Its directed by Martin Campbell and stars Antonio Banderas and Anthony Hopkins. The sequel wasn't very good.

Daredevil (2003)

The theatrical version isn't very good but I'm talking about the director's cut. Many don't like this movie but often they haven't seen that verson. It improves the movie a lot and its 30 minutes longer. Its also rated R.

Not exactly a superhero movie, but the best comic book adaptation is by far The Crow. A gritty visual masterpiece that's emotionally resonant and features a great performance by late Brandon Lee. Rest in peace.

I know fans of the books (which I haven't read) will say the movie is a travesty, but I thought it had a good depiction of teleportation and an insteresting antagonist. Generally speaking I like when superhero movies make me feel "wow if I had that superpower I'd definitely do that !"

Also I have fond memories of Condorman that I saw as a kid. I haven't watched it since and would probably realize it's bad now.

Hell yes. This movie and the "Witch Mountain" movies were my favorites when I was growing up.

Darkman doesn't get enough love. The first movie was great but the sequel(s) were terrible.

Hulk_movie.jpg

I loved Ang Lee's Hulk saw it like 9th grade h8ters can h8te, but it was super enjoyable for me plus it had Jennifer Connelly who I crushed on hard lol excellent movie for me at least would've loved a sequel with this cast. Enjoyed it much more than Edward Norton's Hulk who was in berserk mode like throughout the whole movie from what I remember of it.

Personally my favorite DC animated film. Really explores Superman and his philosophy.

Justice League: New Frontier I also personally really like. Seeing the characters in the 50's is just so cool. The comic itself is my personal favorite DC book.

You say Batman and Christopher Nolan in the same sentence, and I think people will always mention The Dark Knight. Screw that I say. I like Dark Knight but I always thought Batman Begins was the superior film. It brought back Batman to film in a big way after the Batman and Robin disaster. It's a shame it gets overshadowed by it's sequel, because for me it's the best Batman film ever made.

Another example:

Now let me be straight, I think Winter Soldier is the better film, but The First Avenger will always be a favorite of mine because it made a goofy character like Captain America appealing to audiences. Plus, it introduced us to the MCU's version of Peggy Carter, probably one of the greatest female leads in a superhero movie.

Hulk (2003) and Daredevil (2003) are both really underrated and underappreciated IMO.

It's kind of like comparing Sam Rami's Spider-Man to the new MCU Avengers stuff. It's dated, sure, very much a product of it's time, but it's full of charm.

Xmen 1-2 maybe?

First punisher was good too.

Oh and of course blade 1-2, better than 90%of modern marvel stuff.

Hey Daredevil was cool. Very nice visualization of his super-senses, hero with ambiguous moral values, great Kingpin, ...

The Eastrail 177 Trilogy, Jumper, Chronicle, and Hancock are all top tier underrated films. I'm gonna toss a mention for a show too, because Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is legitimately, and by far, my favorite part of the MCU. It gets off to a real weak start, but quickly evolves. Somehow it starts having 22-episode seasons with better pacing and less filler than many 8-episode seasons (because they started writing each season as if it were three!).

I have always liked it too. Its much better than the MCU Hulk movie. This scene was great:

Guyver 2 Dark Hero!
I've been waiting for a blu ray release for ages. David Hayter (the voice of Solid Snake of Metal Gear fame) is the main character. I love it.

Kickass and Watchmen.

Both would be my picks as well. Kickass was better than the comic and, other than a few things, Watchmen was a great adaptation of a book no one thought could be done

Rocketeer is also an great choice.

I need to watch this at some point. I didn't know that David Hayter has been in movies other than the X-Men cameo.

The Shadow
The Spirit( the TV movie not that piece of trash with Samuel L. Jackson in it)
The Return of Captain Midnight

And yes Ang Lee Hulk is better than MCU Hulk. Whedon was the only MCU writer who seemed to give a damn about about him.
