Best VGA solution for Gamecube?

Topic title says all.

Note that I want true VGA, e.g. progressive scan GC games. Is there a box I should get or should I look for a component > VGA adapter? Thanks!

Get one of the modded component or d-terminal cables that have been turned into VGA cables.

Also, does anyone know if the Japanese d-terminal cable is really a DVI cable that will work in HDTVs?

VDigi VD-Z3!

that's what i use and love for my xbox, gc, ps2 and 360!

I got one last year. Had no problems ordering from the website. It's a good product, but only works on games that support at least 480p (Unless your monitor supports interlaced signals). My main complaint with it is that the picture is a little dark, and the brightness screw on mine doesn't seem to work.

PLEASE tell me that you are just using the 360 through the pass through and not actually letting that thing convert the progressive signal to VGA..... MS makes a proper VGA out cable for cryin' out loud!!

From now on, all of your X360 graphics impressions will be tainted in my eyes......

Can anyone tell me which signal from the Gamecube will produce the best picture....VGA or Component? If I get a front projector that has both component in and VGA in, which connection would you go for?

yes, because i want to spend more money to do the same thing, especially with MS's overpriced cables...

A VGA-modified GC component cable is definitely the way to go. Nothing beats a native VGA signal. There are a few shops that sell premodified cables:

http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/gc/vgacable.htm
http://www.lan-kwei.com/customcableE/

Or I can link you to a humongous thread with the details if you feel like doing it yourself.

jiji....how do you get audio from your GC if you use this cables? Do they have an optical out? Or does the GC already have its own optical out port?

What about connecting PS2 to my CRT monitor through some kind of vga box? As I understand, I will be able to run only progressive scan enabled games if using VDigi VD-Z3, right? What about other games?

Non-progressive scan enabled games will not work with the VD-Z3 unless your monitor supports an interlaced signal. If this is the case with yours, I would suggest getting something like the hori vga box.

Isn't this Hori VGA box, like... crap?

I only have a video capture card and VD-Z3.. so I can't really comment on the quality of the Hori VGA box. I suggested it simply because it will work for 480i games (Without your monitor needing to be anything special). I've heard good things about the XRGB-2+, but didn't mention it because it's pretty expensive.

you have to use the regular composite cable with the left + right connections to your computer speakers (or a Y connector)

so,
i just received my very own VDigi VD-Z3 and i am impressed with the xbox games running in 480p, i have a question about 720p. i am using this box on a 17" LCD screen that has dual inputs, (dvi is going to my pc, and i am using the 15pin vga for the xbox). whenever i try to play a game that supports 720p, my image is squished. i have SoulClibur II, Freedom Fighters, and Xmen Legends II. (all can be played in 720p). no matter how i set the xbox dashboard, all the games are squished. the lcd screens native res. is 1280x1024. what am i doing wrong? and what do the "letterbox" and "widescreen" settings in the dashboard do? they don't seem to affect my games any.
thanks for your input.
