Best/Worst XBL community

After prolonged sessions of Halo 2 i have to say that game has the worst community to ever log on to XBL. Its either little whiny racist kids calling me a "nigger lover" or farmers chewing straw calling me a "fag"

Out of all the XBL games i've played id say SplinterCell and PGR2 have the best comminty of gamers. Polite, friendly and skilled.

So, which game have you experienced on XBL with a great community?

With Spikeout Extreme being a niche title (most probably hardcore gamers), im looking foward to playing with educated, friendly gamers across the world. Mainstream XBL games.... just attract dickheads

Worst: Halo 2, RTCW, Mech Assualt

Best: PGR2, SplinterCell, Burnout 3, Rainbow Six 3, Top Spin

Splinter Cell community is awesome.

Agreed on Halo 2. I was driving the Warthog in one level and all I did was accidentally steer the wrong way (maybe 2-3 seconds off course) and I had everyone calling me "fag", "idiot", "loser", "nigger (??)", telling me to leave, etc. Ugh, bunch of idiot kids on that game... and people think the GC crowd is immature? :lol

Never found a community as good as the one in Midtown Madness 3 again. That were the best xbox live days so far. Hopefully Microsoft's going to make MM4 on Xenon.

The brief time I played CounterStrike on Xbox was filled with some of the worst people I've ever gamed with (excepting the nights I'd run into JediMike). Halo 2 is pretty horrid.

I always had good experiences in Project Gotham. And Toca 2.

A lot of the other shooters are pretty middle of the road. Ghost Recon 2 actually seems pretty tame. Though I agree it's a lot of older, gun guys playing haha. That's a game I tend to only play with a full room of people I know, though. Like most LIVE games (excepting Halo).

I'm kind of hoping Phantom Dust is niche and cerebral enough that it will be ok.

The simpler the game, the simpler the minds behind the controllers tend to be. Not trying to knock Halo 2 or any other 'simple' game, but it tends to be true in my experience. I leave negative feedback for every dumb motherfucker that even once utters the N word or any other racial slur. And, god damn it, I report those idiots that insist on piping their music (at max volume) though the chat feed. At least, there's the good ol' mute user feature.

Oh...

Halo 2 - worst...probably more than anything, it has to be percentages. There are more Halo 2 players on Live than anything else.

Rallisport Challenge 2/PGR2 - best.

I could say the same to many online gaming communities. Battlefield gets pretty shocking sometimes, especially on one server that I like to frequent that doesn't have PunkBuster enabled. Maphacks galore!

So far World of Warcraft is pretty decent. There's a huge influx of Final Fantasy XI players who have literally awakened to another MMORPG and say "OMG WOW is the best!!" when they've only played the two... so yeah.

just do what i do. Immediately jump out of the warthog and stick grenade the idiots talking shit

haha... yah the CS community is/was trash. It actually has matured a bit though and is still one of the best XBL games available.

Stay away from the latest "hot" game and you'll usually find good peeps to play with.

Do you leave feedback afterward?

Only on rare instances... I only leave negative feedback if the person is really being detrimental to the game. I always try to leave positive feedback for really great experiences.

It's funny how this thread is coming from Prine of all people. :lol

Anyway, the Halo 2 community is horrible. It's full of whiny little kids or ravenous cheaters. I remember a game I was playing where this kid was trying to make up racist names to call me. I can't remember any of the names he came up with but it was just pathetic. I try to play exclusively with GAF so it's not all that bad.(unless you play with Prine)

Hopefully the Phantom Dust and Spikeout communities are much better.

The hell? I carry the damn team! And you know we always trash on Halo2 community punk. Its garbage, im not playing unless GAF folk setup some matches.

or until Bungie get off their lazy asses and put up some fresh new maps.

Im really looking foward to Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, the game requires strategy and patience. Should attract the more educated crowd

Yeah, we always make fun of how petty some of the people on that game can be. It's just pathetic. Most of them aren't old enough to purchase the game themselves yet they get on and trash talking every moment of the game. It's as if they put a piece of tape on the white button and just keep squawking into the mic. Most frustrating community I have ever seen.

Prine, you buying Spikeout and Phantom Dust?

I gave up on that community when every time I played a Hunter game, there were shitheads parked all over the highway in nigh-unreachable spots.

I loved playing Outrun 2 on XBL. So many good players that were shit-talking in a fun and not degrading method. Decent conversation and no shitheads.

More people means more assholes. I always say "good game" as soon as the match is up, because it sometimes causes a cascade of politeness. But there's something about this generation of 14 year olds. I think they're all on Ritalin or have Tourettes'. They can't help themselves. "....hey everyone..my name is Bobby... JEWGHEYFAG!!!!"

Halo 2 - Xbox Live Statistics
(last 24 hrs)

Unique Players: 393,716

Matches Logged: 881,020

Did I just read that right,SC has one of the best?! :lol

I can't count the number of times I got called every name in the book because I simply wasn't that good at the game or my 10 year old teammate would sit there and spawn kill me,good times!I'd even tell people before the match that I sucked (I got Live like 3 months after the game came out,so obviously everyone had a head up on me) and they would still get pissed when I would mess up or something.

Burnout 3 had the best community I've played in,seems like there were ALOT of 30 year old+ people who played it and were just havin a good time tryin to bump each other and shit, funny ass game.

Spikeout only. PSP is draining my funds atm, the 1 gig Pro Duo hit me pretty hard. Downloading ANime as we speak though, converting them into MP4 files.

Anyway, yeah, the more popular the game, the more idiots playing

Shit like this is why I avoid online gaming.

I don't think I could deal with bullshit racist comments.

:lol :lol

That's a lame reason to avoid online gaming, you're missing out.

Halo 2 has turned me off of Online Gaming as a whole. Right now, all i'm using my Xbox Live Subscription for is the uber-rare Content Download(I.E.-Ninja Gaiden). I'm basically waiting out for Conker's.

Quick Question-If I cancelled my Live subscription after seven months(if Conker's is dissapointing), would I be able to get any kind of refund?

I try to play with ppl i know only.

THe most fun on xbl i have had is definately R6 with the GA crew. Some awesome stuff went down during that time. SC:PT became stupid once everyone began to care about their ranking. Halo2 i ca always find ppl i know to play with so it hasnt givenme any problems.

I have to admit i can be an Ass on live once in a while too.

Once some Kid was playing SC:PT with me and was being a bit annoying he was like 10 or something. I decided to be an ass and well this is how it went:

Kabuki: hey kid

Cooldude:yea?

Kabuki: i have a deal for you

Cooldude: what?

Kabuki: where are your parents?

Cooldude: sleeping its like 2am here

Kabuki: coo....okay man if we win, this is what you gotta do.....take a kitchen knife and kill your parents ok?

Cooldude: wtf what thats not funny man

Kabuki: *whisper* do it man i did mine a while back its fucking awesome

Cooldude: fuck you man your fucked

Kabuki: *Whisper* do it do it do it ........

*Cooldude has left the game*

my friend was did that to a kid playing nba or some shit once so thats where i got the idea.

Grow some balls people,I've had racial things happen to me in real life, does that mean I must avoid all contact with other human beings? No.There are cool people on Live and they're jackasses as well,it's no different in the real world either.

I'd say it would be the Pro Race Driver/Toca 2 community. Playing with that group was really enjoyable, everyone was hardcore-they played very seriously..no goofing around. They were always friendly online. Whenever some shit did get out of hand, like some ass ruining races, then someone would quickly recomend booting the bum so we could resume our close races.

There was also allot of car talk between races, recomendations of what other racers were worth picking up for single player and over Xbox Live. If it weren't for the fact that my damn brother scratched my Toca 2 disk,I'd get back to that community. Its cheap to buy but as a rule I'd rather buy something that I haven't yet played. I guess I'll trade in a game or two for credit because I do miss playing that game allot.

I also briefly played some PGR2 online and that crowd were also great sports. I was a total noob and everyone was very cool about showing me the rpes about playing it online.

The worst crowd I've ever run into online would be for Unreal 2 the awakening on Xbox Live. There were little brats screaming into their head sets, they also werent playing as a team in games that depended on good team strategy,I traded that game in after I beat its single player, even faster once I saw how bad of an experience it was over Live. Not only was that community bad,but the game lagged like a mother most all the time too.

Halo 2 and Madden defnitely have the worst communities.
99% of my XBL time is logged playing GR2, i have a large friends lost of GR2 players, so i'm always in a room with friendly people.

Halo 2 is really bad, my gamertag is lancelet pink, Needless to say I have to endure a lot of crap regarding homosexuality. Once in awhile someone will say thats a cool name but it's rare.

I second Outun 2 as a good community, the majority of live players I get get hooked up with is from the UK, there doen't seem to be that many US players at all. I also like the Capcom VS SNK, and steel battalion community.

Halo 2 is the only game I've played online, and it seems to be roughly 5% decent folks and the rest are just horrible. I got called a "monkey raping pedophile" the other night by this guy who went nuts on a Big Team Battle game, team-killing like crazy. He axed the host, which instantly got him booted and we ALL left bad feedback after, but it's sadly typical of games I play. I have not encountered too many cheaters, but that's because I don't play too often and I'm fairly low-level (~8-10 on most lists).

My buddy uses a pink triangle for his emblem just to incite homophobic comments.

Halo 2 is great fun when you have a big team of friends playing matchmade games, because THEN YOU CAN SLAUGHTER IDIOTS.

I agree that it's the worst of the batch in terms of fools, so I usually just mute my shit. A nice addition would be the ability to mute the other team.

I met some really cool people playing the Clancy games in co-op mode. Cops (or people who think they're cops) seem to gravitate towards those, and they always have interesting stuff to talk about.

Midtown Madness 3 has a great community too.

WHAT?! Splinter Cell has a horrible community. You get these douche bag teammates who keep shocking you as you're trying to sneak toward the decontamination spots, or they will drop on your head knocking you out. And then they shout out "OWNED!". Damn, dirty soccer hooligans.

Moto GP 2 always had a good community. The best was always the one jackass that took the first corner too hard, bailed and took out about 7 guys with him and most the time everybody would laugh. You can't find this with any other game.

Ever add someone to your buddy list in Halo 2 by accident? I did once and got this voice message from some kid:

"Hey people, y'all wanna join mah party? It's gonna be like world war 2 yo, but like, just because that's what it's called-HAHA!"

Obviously it wasn't offensive or anything, but I generally have a low tolerance for idiots.

The Good: Amped 2, Rallisport Challenge 2, Full Spectrum Warrior, Rainbow Six 3, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge.

The Bad: Counter-Strike, Mech Assault, Mech Assault 2: Lone Wolf.

The Ugly: Halo 2, Star Wars: Battlefront.

Alright, cool. See on there then. Damn, my freaking receipt on my PSP pre-order reads $398.63. I have the system, RR, MGA, and Lumines all reserved in full. Bought my 1 gig off of the net for 138 shipped, and a screen protector off of ebay for ~$20. My wallet is going to need a long time to recover. :(
