Beyond Good and Evil 2 and maybe 3?

I just read this in this months rumour/not completly confirmed section of OXM UK.

Beyond Good & Evil fans will be glad to hear what I've found out from Ubisoft's development vaults.
It looks like a sequel will be going ahead, and the first game might actually have been part of a trilogy, the third part forming a possible next-gen launch title.

I just finished the first game a few mins ago and it was really good. It had a suprisingly good story and likable characters, plus it looked very nice as well.

So :D if true.
 
My God, I hope this is true. This game needs a sequel, pronto!

I'm not hopeful, though. I still remember the last time we had a thread just like this.
 
Beyond Good and Evil is one of the few games I've actually felt like finishing this generation. Hopefully we'll get a sequel next-gen.
 
yeah, I've been debating pick this one up for ages. I would like to play it but I don't want to play too much. I've been burned by GAF + ICO + MOKri. :(
 
This game was largely underwhelming IMO. It had its moments, but it never felt focused enough, although the mesh of gameplay elements were certainly far more polished than the GTA games, so at least that much was a relief. I'm not entirely opposed to see the series go on considering its somewhat unique nature, but I'd definitely like to see it be more focused throughout. I think the subtle character change about midway through its development was something of a sign to me that the game may have been caving into market appeal, and not its original vision. Still, if there's any truth to the rumors, it'd be a welcome face among the predictable game announcements these days.
 
This Beyond Good & Evil trilogy rumor comes up every few months. It's been circulating ever since the first one came out. It was based on comments by the developers before the first one was ever released. BG&E's poor sales killed the chance of their original trilogy panning out. Once again, this is a very old and debunked rumor, even if OXM UK just reprinted it this month.
 
Beyond Good & Evil fucking rocks, great great great! Music for the final battle and opening scene rox.

I'm not putting my hopes up for these rumors, but god damn if I'm a sucker for any sequel information!
 
Hmm, maybe someone can help me then...

I started playing this a few days ago (on Gamecube), but I put it down for two days because I've been really tired lately. Anyway, I went to play it today and when I went to load, it couldn't find the game file. I checked on the memory card manager and the file was still there, then I tried loading it again, and I got the same problem. Did this ever happen to anyone else?
 
Serves Ubisoft right for releasing all those games on the same day. Argh! Stupid casuals don't know what a good game is and they make everyone suffer. Boo-urns.

Hell I liked it better than Wind Waker. Much more original setting, fantastic music and characters....The only thing to trump BGE was WW's combat IMO.
 
BG&E was really fucking cool. a sequel with much larger scope would be amazing.

Game definitely deserves a sequel. That game was a piece of something I found lacking in all other games I had played this gen until BGE.

And that final boss fight rocked hard. The control switch provided a good challenge. :)

Unfortunately, I doubt it's true. A third game in the series as a launch title? Unless they mean PS3/Revolution, it ain't happening.

1st game was in dev for four years and sold fuck all. If it happens, I'll eat gruel
 
The reverse controls weren't the worst thing about the last boss battle. The fucking fact that you had to chain-combo your hits was. It took me 1 hour to finally land them. Pure stupidity!

Game Rox though :)

Even if this turns out to be complete rubbish and Ubi have no intention of making a sequel I really hope it doesn't tarnish the idea of original games for them.
Action adventure games that have an original story/characters/game world that isn't based in reality or off old game licenses/movies are few and far between these days.
I would really like to see more (especially from Micheal Ancel) of these types of games that have a bit of imagination.

We can only hope that Ubi or whoever doesn't just throw out "Splinter Cell 13 Another Linear Stealth' em up in this Ever so Tired Series".
 
played the demo on pc which didnt have auto lock on.

Got the game and was disapointed by the stupid auto lock on rubbish and the fact that the game was zelda-lite.

So now every 3D adventure with auto lock on and exploring and just having fun (all in ones opinion ofcourse) is Zelda-Lite?
Every game with boobs is DOA-Sofcore?
 
what a great game - my favorite part was the scene where you had to escape that building and everyone/thing i chasing you. It even did some cool slo motion thing (unless that was just slow down).
 
Well, it's fun see that this rumor refuses to die.
Anyway, most of the original BG&E team is currently working on King Kong, and I haven't heard of a sequel being developed in any other ubi studio.

It truly is overrated. The game is good, but like Warrior Within, nothing special and a little bit mediocre.
