Stay the fuck away from this version, lmao

It had the most impressive water that I've seen at the time. And now 20 years later they did this.

This is why you cant simply port a game to a new engine, turn on new graphical effects and call it a day. Some effects are made with workarounds that get lost in translation when you move to a newer engine. Same thing happened to the Arkham Trilogy when it was remastered. You have to put some minimum effort, and they clearly didnt.

I repeat: stay away from this release
What the druck!!

They gave it the GTA Trilogy treatment.

I guess I will play it in 720p on xbox...

So is the sequel just straight up cancelled now?

I do not understand how this game got a cult following, I mean its a fine game, but nothing special

Finally! I've always wanted to play it, but the current version I own on steam is basically unplayable. Looking forward to finally enjoying it in a hassle-free way.

Wow, this is on par with the level of incompetence of the GTA Trilogy. Glad I still own the original or I'd buy one asap before it's potentially replaced.

They fucking saw how bad the reactions were and decided to delay it lmao 20th year anniversary.More like 21st anniversary. You missed a year you lousy hacks 😂 Modern publishers are a joke Jesus Christ

My personal recollection: circa 2002, I loaned a co-worker my copy of Halo. He loaned me his copy of BG&E. I tried to play it, but the camera controls were bullshit, so I gave it back to him. Years later, it was re-released on PSN, maybe slightly remastered, and I checked it out... the controls hadn't changed, so nope.

If that bullet point about the improved controls means they finally made the camera compatible with people like me, maybe I can finally get into it and see if it's as good as they say.

wtf is this?! what have they done to it.
Why is the water clean now?
Why is Jade retarded now.

I swear 98% of industry doesn't know how to make fucking games now

its an early build, calm down
It's an excuse, they wouldn't have called it 20 anniversary if it wasn't releasing this year, They'd just call it a remastered version. They were meant to shadow drop this shit 100% but saw the reactions and delayed it to next year.

We're only getting "news" early next year yet they already had a fully playable version on u+? Yeah right...

EDIT: How tf do you even upload a game by "mistake". It's not like it's a damn youtube video, these people think we are mentally challenged to give us such excuses....

Bumping this thread.

The back compat X360 version of Beyond Good and Evil HD (720p/60 FPS) is on sale for a measly $2.99. Worth getting even if the remaster is coming in a few months, it's less than a donut.

I do not get the cult following for this game and the want for a sequel. I played the original and it was ok. The sequel will never come out, but we will get another fancy CGI trailer no doubt.
it was a different game in an era that was starting to get very samey

I agree it was "just" a good game, nothing spectacular, but it had potential and many would have liked to see a sequel flashing out the world and gameplay, but the relese date killed the game's chance

Day 1 regardless, another game that holds a special place in my heart.
I wonder if it'll come to PS Plus Premium tier?

I bought this game and couldn't make it 10 minutes through - is it worth pushing further? I see how people genuinely love it and I want to too

Not sure I'll bother with this since I got the HD version on PS3. If it's closer to a remake with redone assets (and not looking like shit) I might grab it, but if it's just bumping resolution I'll probably skip it. It would be neat if Ubi did it like the newly released Tomb Raider remasters, with a physical release attached to it. That would be an instabuy.

I bet they wanted to pair this with a new BG&E2 trailer, but as that project sank further into the quicksand, the remaster went back on ice.

I'd say we're past early 2024 now though. We're in mid 2024. Mid will also very likely describe the quality of this remaster.

Stick with it. I felt the same, but it ended up being one of the best games I ever played. My first playthrough was in the last couple of years.

Im in as long as they allow you to invert the fucking controls properly. They didnt get it right in the OG and they STILL didnt get it right for the HD version.

Fuckers.

Fantastic game regardless though, even if the final boss is Remedy tier final boss un fun bullshit.

Hopefully they've done some work on this since that half-baked build leaked last year.
