The Last of Us Complete Edition Announced

110 dollars?

Upsetting?
You're not missing much. It's an optional boxed copy with a comic and some art prints. You don't have to buy it.
It lacks class and feels on par with paying too much for a hotdog/soda bundle at a movie theater in some tacky promotion.
A more dignified outfit would just overcharge you for the exact same hotdog and soda independently.

YES!!
Can we get Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition next?!?

I would expect we'd get Horizon 3 no later than 2027. And yes, despite your sarcasm, I think we'll see a Complete Edition for that as well, though I think they'd wait and put it on PS6 with enhancements across the board, i.e. latest version of PSSR or whatever Guerrilla's upscaling tech is at the time and 120 fps in fidelity mode.

I'd guess it would be the last single player game in the Horizon series and Guerilla will move on to something else after.

If you already have this game then you're just missing out on some comics and art cards. Saying it lacks class is a bit over the top. Just don't buy it.

Ok time to acknowledge the facts. Neil Druckmann is a troll god, everything he did with the franchise in order to be hated is just a calculated chess move 12 years in the making.
Rat's off to ya Neil.

Isn't it just a bundle of the two games? Maybe you're trying too hard.
Only one trying too hard is them but guess the money's running low so they wheel out ol' daisy for another round of milking. That'll be 110 please.

I could understand if these were super ancient games over 30 years old that people may have missed so they released for a new audience but these are most certainly not.

Actually the tv show has introduced the franchise to a whole new audience so it makes sense to re-release them together. I would guess that most watchers haven't played them. That price is ridiculous though.

I never understood the whole furore around this series - I only played the first one when I got a PS3 at the end of the gen and it came with the console.

Played through it and thought it was OK but didnt get what was special about it like people rave about - just a bog standard 3rd person zombie game with good graphics.

These games have been re-released and remastered so many times now wtf can they do with yet another collection of them...

The thing is, are the people that watched the tv show going to be even into videogames. It's one thing to sit back watch a show but another when it's you having to play the thing yourself. There would be some overlap but I doubt it's substantial.

I saw this article:

  • Series 1 Aired in January 2023 to March 2023 to widespread acclaim. HBO's most watched debut series ever, with episodes averaging 32 million viewers
  • It resulted in two spikes in sales for the game. At the launch of the TV series, sales jumped 38% compared with pre-show levels (IDG Intelligence) and then it jumped 75% vs pre-show sales at the end of its run. Possibly the result of people binge watching, or turning to the game after finishing the show
  • In terms of monthly active users, The Last of Us Remastered hit 1.8 million MAUs in January (Ampere data), a rise of over 1,000% month-on-month. Last of Us Part 2 rose 440% in MAUs with 1.4m monthly users, and The Last of Us Part 1 rose 347% to nearly 600,000 players
  • That success continued into February, Last of Us Remastered players jumped 417% again to over 2.2m monthly players, while Part 2 jumped to just shy of 1.6m players, up 178%. However, The Last of Us Part 1 dropped by 62%. The show finished in March, and things began slowing down then, but its monthly user count didn't drop back to pre-show numbers until the summer.
  • Season 2 arrives next week

I'll say this: At least they are smart enough to capitalize on the tv show. Bethesda had a popular, reasonably entertaining tv show and for casuals wanting to get into the series their only options for content were decade-old Fallout 4 and Fallout 76.

- You guys are upset
- This isn't for you
- This isn't milking

We know this franchise have a loads of defense force, but damn...
Again....tell me how this is milking?

Milking something is where you are enticing owners of previous products to double dip. These are still the same games.

Re-releasing products in a giant package happens all the time.

If it "isn't anything for you" why do you care if people are mad? Let them be mad, let them talk. People are allowed to be disappointed when a studio recycles content instead of innovating.

Not everyone wants to clap like trained seals every time Sony rewraps a product with a shiny sticker

Naughty Dog's been milking TLOU like it's the last cow on Earth. Remake, remaster, remaster of the remaster, now a "complete edition" like we haven't bought this story enough times? This ain't generosity. It's business. Premium price tags for reused assets.

Let people be critical. Let them expect better. Not everyone's content with eating reheated leftovers and calling it fine dining. You like the bundle? Cool. But don't come at folks sideways just because they're tired of cash grabs. Grow up.
Jesus fucking christ....you people really are this dumb. They are literally taking two games and putting them into one bundle. This is the exact same content as people who have already purchased both games have. it's a bundle that was thrown together by an intern. Pretty much no game development manpower went into making this.

It is 100% for people who don't own the games....if someone wants to spend $100 for a steelbook and a comic...be my fucking guest.

Its no worse than Ubisoft putting out multiple editions of their games...which they have been doing for years.

Deeply unserious generation for Playstation so far. Absolutely ridiculous.

Jokes aside, for the last month or so, I've only turned on the PS5 to watch Twin Peak's Blu Ray set. I'm already more a fan of playing multi-plat games on Xbox.

I don't think my PS5 is getting any game-time until Death Stranding 2 comes out.

I put mine in storage and hooked up the Wii U.

I heard Horizon Forbidden West is getting a PS5 inter-gen remaster as well, along with a remaster of GoW - Ragnarok. Apparently there will soon be remasters announced for yet to be announced games

Haven't touched my PS5 since Shadow of the Erdtree, honestly. Did a bit of Stellar Blade but it's just the household's streaming machine at this point.

Capcom rereleases games all the time with no backlash.

RE7
RE7 Gold Edition
RE7 PS5 Version
RE8
RE8 Gold Edition
RE7 & RE8 Double Pack

Just the usual fake outrage.
Your argument is so flimsy you have to take into account different editions of the same game released at the same time and the same version released on two different platforms to make it work.
Do you know how time nd released your TLOU 1 & 2 by your counting method ? Me neither and i don't think anyone could find that out without a calculator.

The faux outrage over a bundle release lmao

TLOU2 hurt some gamers on a deeply personal level. I've never seen anything like it persistent after years, it's like an ex that they had planned an entire future with, leaving them. And now every time their name is uttered that's all they csn think about for the next 2 hrs

I wonder what's the excuse once the game reaches like 20M copies sold.

For real, especially in 2020, some of the haters were flat out acting mental.

Some were accusing Naughty Dog of being insensitive to the COVID situation by releasing the game as it was. It's a goddamn sequel clear as day, anyone who bought knew the first game's story began with a dangerous infection that broke the world, so anyone who took 2020 that hard should not have played the second game at that time.

Then there was this situation where this guy was streaming the game, and he reached THAT scene, and he broke down emotionally over it because he had lost his father recently. Which, hey, that's understandable, but then, a bunch of his community and others who heard about this proceeded to morally shame Naughty Dog over this, saying they were being insensitive with this story and it was in bad taste.

Riiiiiiiiight, so I guess we should never allow fiction to ever kill off a parent or parental figure ever again. Better destroy all copies of any sort of existing fiction that has such an event occur in it as well. It's not like such a detail makes up probably the vast majority of fiction ever made.

No.
All versions of Resident Evil 8 weren't released at the same time. Gold Editions are released after the DLC. The double

Going from The Last of Us to The Last of Us Remaster was understandable because the PlayStation 4 didn't have BC.....and the PS3 version ran like sh**.. The Last of Us Part II Remaster is a native port of the PS4 version with additional content. That's very similar to how they rereleased Resident Evil 7 on the PS5, but Capcom put more effort into upgrading the graphics for Resident Evil 7. The only version that wasn't needed was The Last of Us Part I.

No one would bat an eye if Capcom released PS6 versions of Resident Evil 7 and 8 Gold Editions. You can argue that labeling the title a "Remaster" is stupid, but in reality, it's no different than companies making a native port for the PS5 version. What SHOULD be argued is the upgrade fee.
