Billboard: Led Zeppelin rumored to be reuniting for Desert Trip 2017

It's kind of a blind item but there's hope!

Led Zeppelin fans have worked themselves up into a tizzy over rumors that the rockers might reunite ahead of the band's 50th anniversary next year, thanks in part to a cryptic message on singer Robert Plant's website that says simply: ”Any time now..."

Some are speculating that such a reunion could be staged by AEG Presents, which promoted last year's $160 million-grossing, three-day, two-weekend Desert Trip festival in Indio, California, headlined by classic-rock legends such as The Rolling Stones and Roger Waters.

Gary Tovar, the founder of AEG's Goldenvoice promotion unit, told The Guardian in an interview last month that ”we'd like to bring up the Led [Zeppelin], if you know what I mean," fueling the rumors even though Tovar is no longer part of the company.

But there's no deal in place to get Led Zeppelin's surviving members -- Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones -- back together, sources say, while AEG hasn't announced another Desert Trip festival for this year.

This is all that's up on robertplant.com

I have some well placed sources in the industry telling me that Robert Plant has agreed to reunite Led Zeppelin for Desert Trip 2017. Rumor has it they turned down a reported $14 million dollar pay day to play at last years festival and that this year there are ”millions & millions" of more reasons why they should do it.

Jimmy Page has always been up for the reunion but Plant has always turned it down. Page saying,”Robert would rather play Led Zeppelin with his own band, not with his old band members."

Sources tell me he has finally agreed to do it because of the impending 50 year anniversary of Led Zeppelin.

The last time they played together was in 2007, and they sounded pretty goddamn great:

I heard this rumor right after the first Desert Trip ended. At the time I was super interested but now I'm not sure if I even want to see them at this point in their lives. I'm sure they are still good but it's not the same. I love Guns n Roses too but I have no desire to see them presently.

Why can't they just leave these guys alone? They did that kickass one off show and that was 10 years ago. If these guys do multiple shows now, people are just gonna bitch and say the sound bad. Plant doesn't seem interested in doing it, and if he does, its gonna be for the money.

I just saw Gn'R and I really was not even interested in going, and actually they were great. Here they were on the most recent tour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAJSE9vkHo8

There is a line I don't want to cross with aging stars. I don't need to see what's left of Bob Dylan shambling around onstage, much as I love him. Billy Corgan has crossed into a zone I don't think he can come back from for me. But I'd see Zeppelin in a second, based on the Celebration Day videos.
