BioShock Infinite PC Performance Thread

I tried it and it didn't work. I didn't want to apply any settings just yet, as the art direction is so beautiful... but mashing the screenshot key didn't even work.

pretty sure that shitty sp1 KB something Microsoft update fucked up sweetfx for everyone I dun have it because SP1 refuses to install... without a reformat and I don't want to go through all of that because I have like 300gb of shit to backup... can't even get it to work with Tomb Raider.... just wish I knew my old ass drivers would work with this game or not.... want to buy this shit and VPN it up right now. :/ just dun have 60 to waste if it doesn't work... fucking TR took me like 5 hours to get to work.. had to fuck with registry files... smh... this being a UR3 game though is more reassuring...

Yep, the intro to this game is even better than the original BioShock. Jaws will drop.

As much as I loved Rapture, Columbia is so much more impressive.

PC port is pretty good; much better than Bio 1. Just need to do some mouse sensitivity tweaks and I'll be golden. I put in about 3 hours this afternoon, and plan on letting all of that soak in overnight so I can get back to it tomorrow evening. This is a game that I don't want to rush through.

Can't wait until someone finds out some SGSSAA tweaks.

By the way, in the beginning part in the garden I was getting some slowdowns for some reason even at 1920x1200 when looking at certain areas, not sure why. Everything maxed. Maybe I'll drop AO down from ultra.

Geez, I've seen this game gobble up 2.6Gb of video memory, at 1080p with no AA whatsoever. If you're getting severe stuttering and have a 2Gb card, I'd check that.

Back to playing finally, am running into a few minor issues though. Have everything set at max(with alternate Postprocessing) and running at 1080P. I hold steady at 1080P most of time but get weird drops to 30 or 45 from time to time without much reason. Also seems to be a lot of microtearing going on. If I turn vsync off it stays in the 80s so I'm not sure what's going on. Using Nvidia control panel right now and similar results but a bit better. Have an I5-3570K and GTX 670 4GB. Anyone with similar specs holding a steady 60 with vsync?

Something grinds my computer to a dead halt for a good minute when I get to the Heads or Tails people at the beginning. That happen to anyone else?

The low resolution textures are fucking killing me.

It is really an immersion-breaker looking at some of these textures that look no better than BioShock 1.

anyone playing on old drivers///// gotta a
i.5 2.7 quad
R5870 1gb
8gb ram.....

just wondering if you absolutely need the newest drivers to play or not... just getting Tomb raider a few days ago and have really bad problems with the game as much as I really want this I dun want to drop $60 on a game I cant play...

so I should be goood right... will be playing at 1280X720p

So is downsampling and disabling the in-game AA the way to go?

I am hoping to downsample from 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 and maintain 60 FPS.

My specifications are: 3570K @ 4.4, GTX 680 and 16 GBs of RAM.

So, in my download list on Steam, it says 14.9 GB but I thought I read that it was suppose to be 16.9 with the HiRes textures. Am I wrong?

You guys don't play any first-person shooters?

Been playing them since Doom 2 came on a bunch of floppy disks, and pretty much every big release since. Which is why I find it so weird this is the first game to give me motion sickness. I think its more a mixture of the slightly too close FoV and the buildings bobbing. Get it worst when (very minor spoilers but just in case)
a building is rising/falling quickly in front of you to dock
.

Now who's exaggerating? :P They're not great, sure. but they're far from immersion breaking

Like how Derrick moans about regressive gameplay, Dennis moans about textures.

I'm about to boot this up on PC. Do we have SGSSAA bits yet?

Everyone seems to have stuttering issues.

Major issues later in the game, when it has to load a bunch of areas it really slows down and gets super choppy. Smooth as butter other than that

All we have is that it's AA, nothing else. Just on or off and no idea what form lol

Performance is pretty good for the most part (i5 3570k, GTX 690, 2560x1440, everything on max) except stuttering every so often in the 'main area' which is killing it for me.

Probably post FXAA :(. Some nice SMAA would be good.

Totally forgot about that. No SGSSAA it is then.

It would, I think it blurs the game a bit too much and in some cases it doesn't do its job as good as it should. Devs sure love their FXAA don't they? makes sense though I guess, but we PC people should have gotten a better AA method

Wonder of my ssd and 16gb ddr3 will negate this... Or do we think it's not a hardware issue??

It uses up all my 690's vram :( I have shadows on ultra, might have to tune them down a little bit. I dont see much stuttering only when loading in another area is when stutters a few seconds.
