Bioware not on PS3 ?

Mobius_1 said:
Look buddy: Carmack said that will be working on X360 for the next 6 months!! He also said it will be easier for developers to make the PS3 version of the game first and then port it to X360. I strongly believe that id's next game will be X360 and PC exclusive but they might assign another developer to port it to PS3 at a later date (doom 3 xbox situation)

As for the Epic stuff; Unreal 3 engine isn't standard! Devs will have to pay 1 million to use the engine and if Sony and Epic had a close relationship then Epic should have at least announced a single PS3 game but they haven't!

So you prefer to believe your own speculation when Carmack has already told the real story?
ID next gen project is coming on PS3 and will be made internally at Id.That's it at the moment. If you don't like it's an other matter.
As for Epic their PS3 support with UT 2007 is a given.

i said Kotor 3 is a PS3 exclusive. exactly how have i been proven wrong? i never said anything about bioware. besides, im not the only one saying this.
As long as GA exists, you will be proven wrong for life :D

Just accept it and run a *****-like gaming website with it.

ahahaa you don't get it do you? If id's next game were coming to PS3 then JC would be working on PS3 first cause he stated it's easier to write code on CELL first then port it to x360 and pcs! Id is a small dev and they can't afford multiple R&D at once therefore I think there next game will be x360 and pc exclusive.

PC exclusive right now!

Be honest, are you a joke account?

The Sony crowd is dense. These PC developers are not accustomed to writing code for multi-core cpu's and PS3 development kits lack software libraries compared to the Microsoft stuff.

geez I wonder if developers with no previous experience with multi core cpu will choose the developer friendly X360 or hardcore ass kicking ps3 cell.

Holy shit. I'm going to break it down for you in the hopes that you wake up, or just say you're joking around.

1.) Id has already said PS3 is getting a game from them. In fact, it will be the first game for id that all three versions will be worked on internally at the company.

2.) It doesn't matter how 'difficult' or 'easy' it is to develop for in the end. It matters how much money they stand to make. PS2 was the most difficult development platform this gen, and yet it by FAR has the best and most varied developer support. It's money. And PS3s development environment is supposedly easier than that and Nvidia love makes it even more PC-dev friendly, so it will happen again if PS3 becomes popular. There were many very specific reasons why PC devs were so friendly to Xbox, none of which I should have to spell out for you.

3.) You don't know ANYTHING about ANY DEVELOPER, so stop speculating and acting as if you know shit.

Mobius_1 said:
And that deal is Japan exclusive only. Only the Japanese developers get the evaluation engine.
Are you sure? The press release says SCEI, and the quote make it sound like it will come with every PS3 devkit released.

PS2 base is the biggest! Why didn't ID, Valve or Epic support PS2 if it is all about the money?

And please don't compare PS3 with a PC! Having Nvidia as the graphics provider doesn't mean shit! Cell is still a pain in the ass and only the devs who really know multi-core CPU's (Criterion, Team Kojima, other top notch PS2 developers) will be able to get something out of Cell.

when did I say that I was some kind of insider? I was simply using quotes from JC and others dumbass.

Could be! I thought it was a Jap exclusive deal cause those guys don't know shit about shaders and were having a hard time with ps3 development.

Because of money! It was more profitable for them to port/make an original IP directly to Xbox because of its extremely PC-friendly dev environment and harddrive (so less optimization) on top of not having to deal with the less powerful PS2. I'm sure there's also political reasons, as there tend to be with console developers across the board, which also can involve more support from Sony or Microsoft which leads to more money.

Do...Do you know absolutely anything you're talking about? Seriously now, come clean. You're just talking out of your ass for hopes you hit something, sort of like a blind suicide bomber?

Console Development

So the console platform is going to become more important for us in the future. It’s interesting now that when we look at the xbox 360 and the PS3 and the PC platforms, we can pretty much target essentially all of them with a more or less common code base, more or less common development strategies on there, and this is I guess going to be the first public announcement of it, this will be the first development cycle for id software where we’re actually going to be internally developing on console platformS for a simultaneous, hopefully, release on there.

Note, JC is referencing console platforms (plural) as in more than just the Xbox 360 and most likely the PLAYSTATION 3 he was just talking about the sentance before :)

Have fun Kiddies :D

but at the same time Japanese developers don't hold onto legacy code like US developers do, so they would have an easier time doing multi-core stuff.

You are just plain rude man but your point does make sense. I simply thought that JC and Gabe were bitching about x360 therefore they would never make a game for PS3 cause of the development environment.

We will see what happens though. I am betting that id will outsource development of their secret game to another developer (for the ps3 version) while the x360 and pc version will be done in house at id

btw I admit that I was wrong about Id! I didn't know about that game informer interview.

You do understand John Carmack not only announced *HE* will be developing their next game on PS3, but he is trying to launch the PS3/Xbox 360/PC game simultaneously, right?

JC's lead development platform is the X360, *but* he will be doing the port to PC and PS3 himself...

Think of it like releasing Quake2 on Open GL, DirectX and the MacOS, only all at the same time:)

P.S. Element/Oxygen is an American developer(who is currently working on an X360 game, I might add) :D

WAIT A SEC.?????

WTF ARE YOU DOING IN THIS THREAD ELEMENT???

GET TO WORK ON THAT GAME DAMMIT!!!

I'm rude only because after a page of logical discussion, you're just ignoring all the facts. It's one thing to speculate about things like Bioware, who still have plenty of next-gen development secrets, but a lot of the things you say just are false. And it's like talking to a wall at times.

why would Todd Hollenshead say something that was outright false? Nevermind that, but this statement is contradicatory to this...

Mobius_1 said:

If you admit that, then you agree that based on currently available information your speculation on how Id will handle PS3 development is false.

how you know this?
just a general consensus on japanese developers, aka I'm making a guess based on some out of date information and general talks with friends.

Hey....no problem bud.....

You get mucho props from me by admitting your mistakes....that is not an easy thing to do especially among the angry horde at GAF (of which, I am often a part of) :D

If you spend any time over at TeamXbox it would be easy to see why you might get your facts crossed because that place is disinformation central......no objectivity at all!!!!

I have tried and tried to find out what game OXY is working on...

Last gen he worked on Fusion Frenzy for Xbox 1 launch......not everybody liked it, but I had a blast with the game:)

I believe this gen, he is working at a different dev studio....possibly Monolith???

Point taken, I will use better sources next time.

Monolith is working on F.E.A.R and Condemned, Fear is PC exclusive and Condemned is for PC and X360 so I guess he is working on Condemned?!

A poster that works for Bioware posted on the IGN Boards(in response to a thread of mine) a while back that one of the two 360 titles they are working on is a brand new Sci-Fi RPG.

I'm Not sure if that is common knowledge or not, but I just thought I'd share it.
