In terms of its Canadian connection, BioWare was at the press conference. It seems as though the Edmonton based developer will be starting a PlayStation 3 game in the coming weeks. So far BioWare has only made games for the PC and Xbox and has never made a game for any Sony gaming platform, but that is going to change. Details on what the game will focus on are not being discussed for the moment.

Is Jade Empire (TM) owned by Microsoft or simply a publishing agreement?
 
Perhaps its the new IP they are making? They were rumored to be making an RPG/FPS using the Unreal Engine 3.
 
Well I hope its a sequel to Jade Empire or a new IP because Kotor put me to sleep. There's too many damn Star Wars games. Between the games and the sucky prequels (I haven't seen III yet) I'm pretty much Star Warsed out.

It seems like they are basing it on the sole fact that Bioware reps were at the Sony conference.

In the G4 special on Jade Empire, Bioware made a special note that Jade Empire was impossible on the other two consoles. As for Playstation 3, I'm not really sure it fits unless more WRPG's are to be released alongside the JRPG stuff.

Gamecube and Playstation 2 kneel beneath the power of a stuttering KOTOR engine with bloom lighting. Jade looks good, but it's entirely though art direction.

How does that affect anything? Sure their gamesaves are huge for the XBox, but they really don't need to be. I'm sure they'll cut them down for PS3.

Better story than kotor, more npc interaction and realtime beat em up combat engine. IMO its not as great as kotor (the best rated rpg ever) but its much better than kotor 2.

I played and beat KOTOR1&2 Also Jade Empire...so I know data is stream off the DVD to cut back on loading..which is still bad..

I broke a Thomson DVD drive from all that data streaming on KoTOR1! :lol
 
Jade Empire was pretty cool, but too short even for an action RPG. Bioware has never met or surpassed their work on Baldur's Gate 2 with any of their Xbox stuff.

The Co-CEOs were on IGN Insider's Livewire today. That's where they mentioned having two Xbox 360 projects in the works. They also commented on Dragon Age for PC and politely dodged the question of Jade Empire on PC. It was also revealed through an interview elsewhere that they have five projects total going on right now. Here's where we discussed it a little bit:

Thanks :) I am surprised that we haven't hear more of MS and Bioware. They seem like ideal partners.
 
i wouldnt be surprised if jade empire is an xbox franchise exclusive even though the ip is retained by bioware... i think a recent ballmer or allard interview mentioned it as one of the popular xbox franchises that you would be seeing on the 360

so 5 in production, my guess

Dragon Age - pc/maybe console?
??? - consoles
UE3 fps (hinted at before) - x360/ps3?
Jade Empire 2 - x360
Jade Empire - pc

Nice. KOTOR was really cool, I liked it even though I really dislike Star Wars in general. It was quite impressive, I loved how they handled the whole "becoming a jedi" part. So very awesome.

Considering that PS3 has 300Mb/s(+), I don't think load times is going to be an issue. HDD or not.

Being enthusiastic about a manufacturer's hardware + Great sales of RPG's on that manufacturer's console = Indicative of good relationship.

Load times will always be a problem, b/c faster drives usually come with increases in RAM, so there's more space to fill. Until drive speeds make a quantum leap, expect more loading...loading...loading. PEACE.
 
So the entire basis of this speculation is because some of the Bioware developers were in attendence at the Sony press conference?
