Bioware on PlayStation 3

Jade Empire was pretty cool, but too short even for an action RPG. Bioware has never met or surpassed their work on Baldur's Gate 2 with any of their Xbox stuff.

This is a fact.

Can you imagine a bio ware rpg on ps3, think about it, Graphics and length.

Remember its not a DVD but a Blu-ray disk oh man, i think i am going to passout!

So the entire basis of this speculation is because some of the Bioware developers were in attendence at the Sony press conference?
That, the fact that they've talked about projects for upcoming "next gen consoles", implying that there's interest in systems other than the 360, and they are also going to be using the Unreal Engine 3 for at least a few upcoming titles, which Epic just so happens to talk up like its ideal for PS3 development.

UE3 games could very well be easier to make and get better results on the PS3 over the other two systems and the PC if Epic really is as committed to delivering quality middleware like they claim. They sound pretty hyped thanks to the system's similarities to the PC environment they prefer.

Hardly anything set in stone, though it'd make a lot of sense for Bioware if they'll be making an UE3 based game. But then, it'd probably also make sense for them to release that on Xbox 360, since it'll obviously have UE3 middleware as well, it just might not run as well as the PS3's version.

Given the potential of the hardware it'd be a massive shame for Epic not to optimise UE3 for PS3. I'm sure they will though - they seem quite stoked about the hardware, and have talked about going back to tap Cell now. The RSX likely has specific UE3 optimisations too, so I think it has to be tempting for Epic to get it running as best they can on that system.

That's just from a technical perspective, of course. From a commercial perspective it makes even more sense to be "good" on PS3.

Exactly. The financial winfall that Epic could get if they get UE3 optimized for the PS3 at the start of Sony's middleware program they could easily leverage the cross platform nature, and the PS3's popularity, into becoming the biggest middleware provider on the market, passing Criterion and Id. Could be a real huge development this generation.

Yes, I was thinking of that too, and Gamespot says it was.

Yes, they did. I had a chance to talk to a couple of Bioware guys at the time, and they JUST HATED the PS2. Bioware didn't really want to work on the machine AT ALL. One of them told me SEGA GT on Dreamcast would look better than GT3. Fool! :lol

I just want to see KoTOR in an action-RPG type atmosphere. Jade Empire gameplay with Jedi would be the ultimate Star Wars game. The absolute best.

The real problem with KOTOR is that it didn't have Jan Jansen. Psychotic Assassin droids are cool, but hamster-stealing, turnip-farming gnomes are better.

Did not know it was confirmed.

Oh, did anyone ever tell you that you are obnoxious?

:lol
Well, you know what they say about stones and glass houses.

also,

:lol

At you guys thinking this is some kind of console war coup- it's not. As time progresses you will note that more and more games go multiplatform. It's business 101- spread the risk; and try to capture the largest market possible.
