G40 - Fully Programmable Graphics Acceleration for Multimedia and Smart Phone Platforms

The Bitboys G40 is a fully programmable 2D, 3D and vector graphics processor with the upcoming OpenGL® ES 2.0 feature set packed into a small design size with efficient memory bandwidth usage. Programmable vertex and pixel shaders provide for advanced photo-realistic rendering effects and unprecedented visual clarity.
The Bitboys G40 enables a fully visual mobile phone platform. The programmable pixel processor supports pixel shaders, per-pixel executed programs which allow content developers to generate such realistic-looking object surfaces as metals, woods, water, lighting effects and reflections.

Hardware acceleration of vector graphics in G40 provides for enjoyable visual experiences even on smaller screen sizes: smooth user interfaces with ultra-clear text, icons and animations at extremely low power consumption level.

· 2D/3D and vector graphics acceleration
· Programmable geometry and pixel processors
· Support for vertex and pixel shaders
· Transformation and lighting: hardware
· API Support: OpenGL® ES 2.0 and OpenGL® Shading language
· Vector graphics API support: OpenVG, SVG
· Scalable performance with core clock frequency
· Efficient memory architecture and accesses
· FLIPQUAD full-screen anti-aliasing
· Internal color precision: 64-floating point
· Support for screen sizes up-to 2048x1024 anti-aliased
· Number of textures per pixel: 4
· Bilinear, MIP-map and tri-linear texture filtering
· Support for compressed textures (DXT1, PACKMAN)
· 2D bitmap copy and fill operations
· Raster operations

Impressive.

What's there to laugh at ?

The fact that they got numerous times the rug removed from under their feet just when they were "this" close to mass production (there are working chips out there in working cards) ?

The fact that their G* line of portable 3D GPU's is not tanking and it has been licensed ?

The fact that the demo you can see (the video is linked) is running on hardware in real-time ?

Very impressive. The Bit boys crew have to be one of the most unluckest companies around. Glad to see something good happen for them.

Cheers,
bbyybb.

Kings of vaporware. Seriously, the skepticism is warranted. They've always had promising hardware, but it's been pretty hard to take them seriously. PEACE.

It looks great if it's really running on hardware. Who has licensed it? What hardware is this video running at?

The video is running on the G40 GPU and one of the licensee is NEC.

Agreed, I am not going to believe jack diddly until a REAL product is released that uses their technology. Videos and screenshots don't mean shit.

I actually had a beta Pyramid card. It wasn't bad. It did pretty well against the Riva 128... back in the day.

I don't understand how Bitboys keeps getting money, all these years and not one bit of hardware. Which ever venture capitolists that keeping giving them cash might want to throw money my way, I can have a game dev team set up in no time. Might even actually make a game too.

We will have to disagree here Duane :).
