Black Friday ads

Black Fridays coming up in almost exactly a month and the ads are already starting to hit the web. Wal-marts door buster ad is online and they will have GBA SPs(only Cobalt, Platinum, Flame, and Onyx listed) for $48.88. The X-box system is also supposedly listed for $179 and it comes with one game. The ad scans are available at www.bfads.net for those who want them. Theres also some laptops listed and tvs.

I think it will be interesting to see TRUs ad this year. Supposedly WM and Target are going to be really competitive in the toy business, and I know TRU has the Spongebob GBA listed for $80 in the ad, but it comes with a game. It will be interesting to see what TRU does about WMs $50 SP price tag. They don't price match anymore, but TRU has been trying to match WM prices a little bit better. Anyway, I just wanted to post this(finally beat Wario64 to a deal).

Every fucking year I look though these and find the best deals. Then I sleep in friday morning. =\

:lol Yeah, stores already have those. It's the Forza pack.

PS: I have a couple of friends. One works at Target and one works at Best Buy and they both tell me that guys keep coming in and buying entire shipments of Xboxen (most was 75) at a time. They get calls every day asking for bulk shipments of xboxes...what do these guys do with them? How do they make a profit? I want in!

Oh yeah, and they don't want the Forza packs. One guy said he can't make a profit on those. So, who are they selling them to?

Back when PS1 was being phased out, there were two guys that would go all up the east coast buying PS1s. I hooked them up with stores that had a lot and they would always pay cash to buy the systems(the guy had wads of cash on him every time he came in...probably a couple thousand). They needed thousands of systems and ended up getting close to their quota.

The very last time they ever stopped in, the guy thanked me for everything and made me take $50 for my efforts. So I had to ask just what was he doing with them. He told me he was sending them overseas and making a killing on selling them over there...4 times the cost in US dollars. I still don't know where he sent them or exactly what he was doing, but at least he thanked me for my efforts.

He was probably sending them to Saddam so he could make missile guidance systems.

Yeah, but werent the playstations dirt cheap at the end of their life cycle?

It makes some sense though, Sega was actually porting their game gear stuff over to mastersystems for the Brazillian market well after the system had died in the US and Japan.

The only Black Friday sale that matters is TRU Green Tag 90% off. I remembered which store it was that had all the copies of Gradius V, Phantom Brave and Galleon with green tags, and come the day after Thanksgiving, I'm getting up at 7 am to be the first one in line there.

Been in your shoes before and I can tell you that it sucks big time. People fighting over crap that they really can't afford and have no intention of ever buying.

Naw, working retail in the morning that day is awesome. Day goes by hella quick.....now getting a closing shift on that day is a nightmare. Try picking up the mess of those thousands of people....

I had 2 GCs on launch day.

One was sold in Brasil. :)

What is Black Friday? :)

The day after Thanksgiving in which people wake up at ungodly hours to get to the mall at like 5:00 am for sales, by 7:00 am the mall is packed like it was the afternoon but with crazy buyers.

day after thanksgiving. Crazy sales in stores, people line up for hours before stores open to murder each other over 5 dollar toasters.

Black Friday is awesome, you don't even have to buy anything, just snag something really wanted then throw it at the far backend corner of the store (gardening), then say out loud that you placed it there for someone (preferably a family member) to fetch when they have time

"Mom tell Grandma that I placed the Oven Cooker in the gardening area near the Rakes!"

Then go over to that corner and watch as people scramble there and search frantically for it

Or just walk up to a huge line and stand there with a pack of gum or something, then look around when you're in the middle and say "hope this isn't the line to the bathroom! i need to pay for this pack of gum!" and watch as people give you wicked evil glares

why atually put the item in the rakes? Its better if they storm for it and there isnt anything there. In fact, this could be a winning strategy to actually get what you want. Just shout out real loud "Hey, I moved those cheap Plasma TV's to the car audio section like you said". Then run to the TV section and laugh at the fools.

:lol :lol :lol
OMG I hate black fridays but I always seem to go to them.
Last year their were people fighting at the entrance of a LONG best buy line to enter since someone cut. Shit was pure comedy.

Also a little warning to fellow Gaffers.
***WARNING***
Stay the hell away from WAL-MART. You won't come out alive.

(if anyone remembers that incident of some lady trampled maybe killed over something at wal-mart on black friday)

I can't find a reason for myself to go unless they have some crazy deal on a decent TV.

The item was never at the rakes! It was near the hoses!

Call of Duty 2 is mine!

I went to Circuit City on Black Friday last year because they had a deal on a GBA SP bundled with Metroid Zero Mission for $79.99. It wasn't worth it, I should have just forked over $30 for Metroid. The crazy parking lot traffic, insane crowds, ridiculously long lines...never doing it again, no matter how much money I can save. I'll be sitting at home enjoying DQVIII while all that crap is going on, thanks.

I always go out.
Sadly, the only real game last year I bought was MC Groovz Dance Craze. :( Worst game I ever played. Seriously. The worst. It's like an alpha-build of DDR.
I did get the Gameshark Media Player for $10, though. I love that fucker.

Not looking too good so far. I want another HDTV for my pool room, and so far Comp USA only has crappy ones on sale, and not much of a sale either :(

That Westinghouse 26 inch (best buy is only listing 27 inch so that may be misprint) LCD HDTV for 499.99 is one hell of a bargain. It's selling on BB right now for 850 bucks and that TV has gotten pretty good reviews from AVS forums.

On the cheap they also have an Insignia 30 inch widescreen HDTV for 399.99. No HDMI though.

funny that you should mention the bulk xbox buying thing rors. my friend works at best buy and told me he got in trouble a few weeks ago for selling 80 playstation 2's to this arab guy (as that was their entire shipment for the month or something). neither of us could figure out wtf he was doing with them (i had guessed he worked for a big company and was purchasing them as gifts for the workers or something). can't believe they're making a killing on that crap overseas!

Yeah, we had a bunch of latino guys buying every single system we had at my Target a few weeks ago. Guy told me they were gonna sell them in Mexico. Paid in cash too.

I have the 27" Westinghouse, which I got open box combined with a coupon for around $700. They don't make a 26". The disclaimer reads that those listings were sent in anonymously, so take with a grain of salt. I have a hard time believing they'd knock $400 off (the $850 is the sale price; normal retail at BB is still $900) the price of that TV, unless it's to clear out stock for a new model.

It is a great TV for the money, though.

Yep... that is called "fayuca" (buy things in USA and sell them in México)... It's a very common thing around Xmas holidays, people rush to buy them because the 'fayuqueros' sell them cheaper [a PS2 costs around $250-350, depending on the store].
