So I can get two blood rocks from the main game + DLC and four more blood rocks per NG cycle from the bottom layer chalice dungeons. But Blood Chunks are the real bottleneck. Need 16 of them to upgrade one weapon, and they cost 20 insight each. I got enough to upgrade four weapons in my recent play through. Not sure I collected them all. But it feels like its easier to collect 6 blood rocks than 16*6 Chunks.

Edit wiki says there are like 46 in the main game, that's not enough to upgrade three weapons. Not sure about the DLC. I know you can get them by RNG too though.

Blood Chunks are plentiful in Depth 4 & 5 Chalice Dungeons from beating the bosses.

Thanks! Is it true that you have a chance to get a blood rock off of a depth 5 root chalice layer 3 boss?

Entirely possible. They are a lot more plentiful than they used to be that's for sure. So much so that I have EVERY weapon upgraded, plus all the variations.

Welcome! Bloodborne is an excellent game as soon as everything clicks. Don't be afraid to use the community here for help.

wow after playing soo much ds3 the past 4 weeks I went back to this im on the forbidden woods on NG++ gota say its soo easy(the swift dodging) to just get back into it I swear it feels like it has better fps also. I still think DS3 looks better but not atmospherically.

Ugh, Living Failures are kicking my ass. They seem to be such damage sponges and it is difficult to concentrate on one while avoiding the others.

Once you join the hunt, there is no going back

be safe hunters!

don't lock on

run around and make sure to target the sorcerers because they rarely attack with their hands and have way less HP than the other mostly melee ones.

Thanks for the tips! The casters are significantly less dangerous than the melee failures.

Central yarnham is an awful onboarding experience. Stick with it, it gets easier and better past then. Use a guide to find the first boss asap. Finding him gives you an insight which let's you level up. So at least you can make character progress during the start of the game and start leveling out the difficulty curve.

Can someone explain what the chalice dungeons are? After beating Blood Starved Beast they mysterious tombstones in the Hunters Dream appear to have activated.

It's basically "Here's some shitty levels if you're really really starved for more Bloodborne."

It works on me because I can't stop playing the damn game.

Not having a PS4 myself it certainly took a while but I'm in the boat now! I only watched others play some bits and only played it for a while at a buddy's house before.

So far it's the fucking masterpiece everyone says it is. World design on a new scale. It's so crazy good!

I was really bad with the new fighting mechanics in the beginning but I'm really getting the hang of it now. I really had to get used to constantly being "open" for enemy attacks. Also this game's version of rolling works just different enough so I constantly make mistakes. Remember, it's not Dark Souls, damnit!!

My weapon of choice is the saw cleaver just because I like the design sooo much. It's also fast and the trick combo does big damage!

---------------------------- divider for no reason ------------------------------

Is there a way to make screenshots with the PS4? Because my character looks almost exactly like Bruce Campbell and that's what I called him as well.

A short list of thoughts/experiences/pros and no cons

+ Bruce Campbell with the Blunderboomstick and a saw baber knife for his huge chin. He's kicking everyone's ass!
+ Level design, graphics and details from another world
+ this game is so dense. It knows what it is and runs with it! No unnecessary fat to trim here!
+ hyper-detailed clothes (for example bullets dangling from the leather jacket)
+ Bruce and I somehow beat Celric Beast, Father G and Bloodstarved Beast on the first try (Probably has something to do with Mr. Campbell being a god)
+ every fight feels intense and dangerous.
+ shiny blood, mud and skin
+ the creepy sounddesign just works. Vicar Amelia's screams got me!
+ Cathedral Ward reminds me of Berserk as does Old Yarnham

My latest playthrough did everything. Would have gotten the platinum again if didn't already have it. Was a lot of fun. Hadn't played BB in over a year. Decided to go at it again after playing DS3. Now maybe just help people in co-op with short root chalice. Since that's randomized it is more fun than helping in DS3 IMO.

I'm playing Dark Souls 2, Overwatch and DOAX3 and got rid of my copy of Bloodborne and all I am feeling is the itch to rebuy Bloodborne and start a new character. Gah this game won't get its hooks out of my brain. Its like it has eyes in there or something.

It just became $20 so why not rebut it?

Came back to Bloodborne after not finding anything better to do in DS3. I'm just sad about how harder it is to find games to join now that the community has moved on.

I did find a person online using the most OP character I've ever seen at around level 60. He/she was using the rakuyo in the first area of the DLC, dealing about 1030 damage to anything with a single hit. Even with all the lag this person timed viscerals dealing over 4k damage. I'm thinking this person had at least one of the clawmark runes equipped, but the weirdest thing about everything is that the character seemed to be under permanent beasthood WITHOUT the beast embrace rune. That is, the character looked human (made to look like Maria, even).

I massaged the person about the build but haven't heard back, but I'm pretty sure this person wasn't popping any beast pellets throughout the game. Having never messed with the beast rune before, I thought that would do the trick, but it doesn't retain or extend the pellet meter. Any ideas?

4K damage is entirely possible with the use of the Clawmark +30% rune and the Maria set also adds Visceral Damage. It is entirely possible without the use of BBP to achieve the type of damage you are talking about here, just by sacrificing some health over Skill or Strength attributes as well as getting all of those sweet gems that the Chalice Dungeons offer. Nothing out of the ordinary.

anyone free to help me beat the queen?
Password: GAFHUNT.

How do I do that?

What about the permanent beast meter though? I swear I never saw the person pop a beast pellet in the 10+ minutes we played together.

done, should I enter my dungeon then ring the bell?

Yeah.

What are the signs that you described of Beast Meter? 1030 damage flat is achievable with the right setup or gems and the perfect character spec. Did the guy have the most telling sign, which would be the aura around the character?

Yeah.

Is it better to co-op with password in a chalice dungeon using the short root chalice? Or do you have to be in exactly the same dungeon (same glyph) on the same floor?

I have read posts that say the short root chalice with password summoning can take a really long time. Is that still true?

Yeah.

The hissing aura, ya D:

If I wanted to imitate the setup I image I'd be chomping on a pellet every minute, but this guy never did.

Interesting, you cant have more than 2 people helping you, but with SDR's help we destroyed the boss, thanks. The NPC didnt even join the boss fight.

I just got summoned fine using the password and the short root chalice.

Hm, that is very weird then. You don't have a video of this by any chance?

I wish I did. By the time I hit the share button to have some footage I was too late.

It works for me but it always seems to take longer, yeah. If I have the chalice and floor open it's better to ring right then and there.

Another thing I did when coming back was finish off my level 4 character with the DLC

z7uoVqY.jpg

Couldn't handle his second form so I cheesed him to death by the time I got to half health.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wsiHhxOw4s

Timing the shots felt so satisfying.

Played through the Fishing Hamlet last night and beat the Shark Bros. first try. I used the Shaman Bone Blade like everyone suggests but it didn't last long enough for one to kill the other, so I had to take on 2 at once for most of the fight.

It probably wasn't as hard as everyone said it would be, but still pretty fun and intense.

80, NG++ probably 140

Well I'm massively over levelled XD, just beat MP on my first play through at 170 though I didn't find the last 3 bosses hard at all, I bet if I hadn't of grinded like I did after mico I'd still have first timed them.

I actually first times a lot of bosses in my first run through.

For my second and third play through I'm gonna rush them and use summons as often as possible

For a few NG+2 bosses I found that memorizing the boss patterns was a lot more important than level. At 50 vit they could still 1-2 or 3 shot me.

You were like twice your level for the last boss, poor little creature

Ha ha XD but tbh I don't have any real trouble with margo onwards at all, saw patterns used them barely got hit during all 3 fights.

If any gaffer wants to join my second quick play through let me know, I intend to clear/open at areas but I'm not holding back so blasting through it

After I finished DS3, I jumped back into Bloodborne. And I beat Lawrence with SDRs help (thanks again!!), I collected every caryll rune from chalice dungeons, I took my character from 200-240+, I finished up NG+ and I played through NG++ all bosses including DLC except two. And unlocked every area in NG++. Did some gem farming. Then I took my other existing Lvl 40 character and finished all the bosses plus the DLC, created a beast claw build, plowed through all the chalice dungeons, collected all the armor and all the runes that I wanted, and did all the side quests. It was a lot of fun. Might be time for a break though.

Yeah I got every rune in the game. Lol not sure when I'll use them though.

It's pretty easy now to get the runes you want with the fextra wiki glyph codes. They found a glyph where each rune is on the first level. Most are on the bonus room before the first lamp.

How does everyone feel about the gems? Are they something people would want returning in a sequel? Though they are kind of a pain, I'd be kind of cool with them. Be neat if they had some more variety in effects. It would be neat if bosses could drop gems(like boss souls but not) so we could get some lore on them. I always wonder about the cleric beast and what kind of porn he was watching to get that arm so big.
