"OMG GUYS! I've got it! PANIC BOMBERMAN!!! the kids love that and the multiplayer bombing action genre is overcrowded on the PSP - i mean there's hardly ANY puzzlers at all!!!!"

"Yamashita-san.... you are a good damned genius!"

Panic Bomber has always been a puzzle game, wtf did you expect :lol

I played the shit out of it on Bomberman 64 (japanese version with all the mini games)

"It's okay, maybe we'll get a REAL Bomberman next year."

HEY HUDSON FUCK YOU!

Widescreen Saturn Bomberman on Dcharlie's projector=HOTT

Bomberman as a concept is so simple and brilliant. So why is it so difficult for them to deliver a great game? Super Bomberman 2 and Saturn Bomberman were awesome. But none of them since have in my opinion been worth a damn.

I know this isnt trying to be a regular bomberman game, but it has me thinking of the greatness that was bomberman. Why do they constantly feel like messing with the proven formula? Be it 3d spherical explosions or isometric perspectives, they keep trying to "improve" on the bomberman experience. I want a throwback game from them. A classic feeling bomberman, just simple top/down perspective with the old fashioned explosions and some crazy powerups.

Or what would REALLY kick ass would be a Bomberman collection for all systems, including handhelds. Include online play as well, sell it for cheap, and you have a million seller on your hands.

Bomberman Tournament on GBA was pretty great. The new DS game looks promising too.

And so it is....

It's all about the games.
This proves that not everything on PSP is hot and people have to start looking at games not hardware. PSP is sexy (ugh, bad word for some piece of plastic), but that doesn't mean good games perse.

This is why the NDS is selling more the last weeks than PSP (in Japan). The games were better. If good games come to PSP then it deserves the praises most of GAF give it.

wait, Bomberman for Saturn has a widescreen mode? Are there others?

It wasn't really widescreen mode, but a high-res ten-player mode (only 1 stage though).

Saturn Bomberman was based off a real widescreen Bomberman game though, Hi-Ten Bomberman, which was used at events in Japan but not released:

Life won't be complete until we get Hi-Ten Bomberman on something, with all it's widescreen 10-player stages.

DROOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL!!!! Those pictures just reaffirm my thoughts that we need online classic bomberman NOW! XBOX live, PSP, I dont care. Just give me a game like that and online and you can kiss my life goodbye.

I remember bringing my buds over and playing Mega Bomberman on the Genesis for HOURS and HOURS every weekend. Come to think of it, it's a miracle I ever got laid or moved out. On the other hand, I got mad chuckles out of yelling "Now that's some Swapmeet Louie, bitch!" every time I used one of the kangaroos as a shield while surrounding me and an opponent with bombs.

Err... online bomberman (aka Net de Bombeman) is available for PC and PS2 in Japan. No way am I paying 500 yen a month to play Bomberman though!

:lol :lol :lol

Bomberman seems like one of those games that would be better on the DS anyway with the twin screens and the touch display.

For some reason, our Super Bomberman 2 matches always devolved into talking like Foghorn Leghorn, proclaiming, "Might I suggest a temporary alliance against our mutual foe, the Bomber of the shiny gold color?" That, and the "glove of love" ... oh, how I miss Super Bomberman 2.

Yeah, gold bomber kicked ass. Just load yourself up with a glove, max explosions, and so many skates you can hardly stop moving of your own free will.

The sad thing is that when a normal bomberman is released for the PSP, it will probably be some crappy 3d version instead of having the traditional gameplay.

Or their Bomberman Kart game or Bomberman Max 3. The PSP is perfect for a Saturn Bomberman-esque game with 10 player online multiplayer. I'll probably get Panic Bomber anyway since I enjoyed the original and I'm always up for a good puzzler.
