Hell's yes! Haven't been since 2006 (Tom Petty, OysterHead,
Radiohead), but Phish headlining 2 shows is more than enough
reason for me to travel the distance from Salt Lake City to
Tennessee. Especially since they're coming nowhere near the
area on their Summer Tour.

It was supposed to be announced tomorrow. This is from
TV on the Radio's MySpace page, though; they're playing the
festival so I'm going to go ahead and assume this is a legit
lineup

I already bought my tickets and I'm sitting here shaking over that lineup, it's entirely unreal. I thought last year's lineup was great, but this blows it out of the water entirely. This lineup pisses me off I love it so much, because I know there are bands I'll be pissed to miss out on because of conflicts :lol

Plus we got, like, 3 rounds of artist additions over the
next 4 months, too. :) I'm so hoping for a Flaming Lips
addition. :)

Just FYI, Merle Haggard has lung cancer, so if you're in a position to see him, do so. He probably doesn't have a whole lot of time left. And yeah, he may not be hip, but he wrote some fucking great songs in his day. Silver Wings, If We Make It Through December, Mama Tried, I Can't Hold Myself In Line, classics.

I'm not keeping my hopes up for an addition that big. It'd be cool to see the Allman Brothers Band added since Gov't Mule is there and they had to drop out last year, but I'm content with what is here.

Phish? Really?

Other than that, that's a pretty great line-up. Animal Collective solidifies my attendance.

Not just Phish, but two nights of Phish.

...

Well, it couldn't be all great.

Uh, Other than Phish? 'Roo was started as a festival
that focused on Jam Bands and roots music. Thank God
Phish is playing nd helping guide it back to what has always
made the festival so special. Couldn't take another year of
nonsense headliners like Kanye West or Metallica.. or even
Tool.

Man, you folk that are criticizing Phish don't belong there
and best not be snatching up all the tickets! I'm warning you!

Don't worry, I'll leave before Phish comes on. Or depending on the times, just go see Springsteen instead.

Phish is everything BAD about jam bands.

... now you're just being difficult.

Springsteen and Phish won't be playing opposite of each other. Headliners usually play against no one else. I imagine Phish will be playing Friday and Saturday, and Springsteen will close out the show on Sunday.

For someone with a Bob Dylan avatar you apparently know shit-all about musical compositions.

Bob Dylan is the pinnacle of music composition? Oh, wait, no he isn't. At all. I hate when people throw out this bullshit "technicality=quality" argument with music.

BrandNew said:
I just don't like Phish. You can go see them, but I won't.
I will, but not at some big festival of shitty shit bands, I'm going to see just Phish a few weeks later.

I like things you don't.

That's not what I was implying at all, but I could see how you'd gather that since I wasn't very clear.

As far as your second point, you're opening up another can of worms and I'm going to leave this thread without argument before all the other tone-deaf gaffers start hugging your nuts.

Watching Flaming Lips on shrooms, summer 07. Best Decision EVER.

This lineup is fucking awesome btw. I highly recommend checking out girl talk, on pure mdma.

Like the other guy said, Dylan's incredible, but that's not a debate to have since it's such a shitty one.

Actually you know what, I'm not sure about this list. It seems like here should be more there, considering last year's line-up:

2008LineupPoster.jpg

Or at least some comedians.

I won't judge until the official release is tomorrow.

Lineup is okay, certainly not good enough to put up with typical festival show bullshit (short sets, the god damn heat, scheduling conflicts) and festival show pricing.

And considering all the insufferable trust fund wooks who will be at this show, not even The Exploding Hearts rising from the dead and playing a set consisting of all new material they wrote after death playing with Ween, Boris, and The Wrens would convince me to go to this show.

This isn't the full lineup, it's the first wave that's being released tonight at midnight. The comedians and other additions will come later, the full lineup wasn't expected yet.

Wow what a horrible attitude. You think at a Phish dominated festival, there'll be trust fund people?

Regardless, suck it up and swallow or dumb disdain for people who don't do shit to you.

It's official. There are usually 3 or 4 additions over the time from the
initial announcement to the beginning of the festival. And sometimes
people show up that aren't even announced...

Yeah. There will be a fucking ton. Those mongoloids love this sorta shit.

Regardless, suck it up and swallow or dumb disdain for people who don't do shit to you.
I wouldn't travel for this lineup. They do plenty of shit to me: stink like patchouli, and piss me off at every Ween show. They're just a bunch of idiots who think that being a "hippie" meant listening to shitty noodly guitars and doing a bunch of drugs. They have no ethos, they just listen to boring guitar wankery. And that's a huge affront to me. Anyway you'll know what I mean when some dude a foot taller than you with stinky ass dreadlocks (which mean nothing more to him than a fashion statement) stands in front of you reeking of patchouli, blocking your view of your beloved Animal Collective, all the while ruining your whole experience.

Thank God you won't be there.

animal collective isnt that great live

I've heard many many people disagree with you, but I'm not so sure how I myself will take them live. The execute so well in the studio, and I think that's their best environment. I'd love to be proven wrong though, I've never seen them live.

Dont really care for the headliners, especially compared to Coachella's (disregard saturday night though) but a large majority of those bands do interest me.

sefskillz

shitting in the alley outside your window
Already got my tickets, went ahead and bought them before the lineup came out. Bonnaroo is always fun, it doesn't matter who's playing... and this lineup doesn't disappoint.

Me and my hipster trust fund friends are gonna have a blast not caring about the music and just running around doing stupid shit. Cmon Lambtron, get over yourself, brah

I really wish Australia got lineups like this. After seeing the recent Coachella announcement and this I am very jealous.

I do highly recommend TV on the Radio though, enjoyed the hell out of them last week.

I bought my tickets just based on the rumor that Phish was playing. There is a lot of great bands to see, even if you have shitty taste in music and don't like Phish. I would, of course, recommend hallucinogens + Phish even if you DO hate them, but that's just me trying to do you a solid. This is one of the greatest festival line ups I've ever seen.

My Highlights:

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Phish (2 Shows)
Beastie Boys
Nine Inch Nails
David Byrne
Wilco
The Mars Volta
Merle Haggard
moe.
Béla Fleck & Toumani Diabate
Rodrigo y Gabriela
Gomez
Jenny Lewis
Brett Dennen
Toubab Krewe
Alejandro Escovedo
Portugal. The Man.
Band of Horses

And that's not counting the many bands I've never heard that I'll be checking out before June.

djtiesto

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Oakenfold? They're slumming it this year, especially after getting Sasha+Diggers in 2006...

Might go this year. I haven't been in a while but the misses is working in the area during the summer so I might go.

Been to Bonnaroo 3 times and can't wait to go again this year. Really good lineup, Phish being the main attraction for me. Late night is gonna rage.
