Bootleg NES

Yeah, that's legit. I forget the company--something with a Y--Yomo? Yoyo? Eh, whatever. It's legit. Nintendo let the hardware copyright on the NES expire thus allowing 3rd parties to make their own versions. Or at least that's the jist of it anyway.

That doesn't sound like the Nintendo I know. No, the Nintendo I know would beat an 80-year old grandmother until her retinas detached just for having a copy of NESticle and a Metroid ROM. Seems odd that they wouldn't crack down on such things.

They can't legally crack down, since their patent on the NES hardware has expired. No intellectual property rights are being infringed upon by these.

Do you have to blow into the games and pray to god to get the NES games to work in these systems? I've never known if it was the NES games that get messed up or the NES system that gets messed up.

I think they did try to take the company responsible to court and lost.

Hmmm, they come in silver black and white and red (famicom) colors...I think Ill wait for the Nex one. I want to be able to use the original controllers.

You can use original NES controllers with the FC Game Console USA Version (what this thread is about) too.
Yeah your right (just double checked, initially it looked like the genny style plug in).... I think Ill order the famicom looking one....

that Generation NEX looks really cool, but I need to know, is it NES games that get messed up, or is it the system? If I got a Generation NEX, would NES games be alot more reliable?

When does the patent for SNES expire?

Edit: Maybe I'll order a new controller + AC plug from that site, that's all I need for my SNES to work...

Wait, they say their AC plug works for NES and SNES..... I'm fairly sure my NES does not use the same plug or else I could get my SNES to work.

It would be more reliable. It was the loading device that was the main issue with the original NES (and why the redesign was a top loader). Anytime i had problems with the game, i just took a q-tip and rubbed it across the end and the game would then work perfect.

It's a combination of both. I bought one of these at Kentia Hall while I was at E3 and it works great! Just buy it and use some rubbing alcohol on your NES games and it'll work fine.

Please make sure to clean your cartridges before you use them with a new system like this, otherwise you'll be speeding it along to poor performance just as fast as you can. :p Cotton swaps with rubbing alcohol work great for cleaning the contacts. (It helps to clean out the plastic cowling surrounding the contacts, too.)

My parents wouldn't allow me to own a NES, which wasn't that bad, since I played it at my friends' house all the time, but I still don't own one. I'm thinking when this NEX comes out I may get one, because I really enjoy collecting, and I own pretty much every good SNES game now, so I need a new system to collect games on. I'm a flea market fiend.

One of the importers at e3 was selling the USA Yobo for $20... I got myself one. Good old Kentia Hall...

$60 seems steep to me, although it looks interesting.

Impressions? How are the controllers?

It works quite well, and I use standard NES controllers on it. However, the included controllers seem decent.

I do have to get a decent Zapper though... I'm having sporadic results with mine. It's not the system but the gun...

I'm waiting for a Messiah.
