Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

We're going to have that dumb thing with the national media leaping and speculating on everything again. Meanwhile all night, Channel 5 and 7 in Boston did real work. Refused to speculate and throw out rumors until they confirmed with their sources. (Even stuff being reported elsewhere.) Had people on location who refused to speculate in the heat of the moment and said they wouldn't rule out a series of coincidences. (insert Garak quote) But then as stuff came in went to work and explained key details.

But the national networks are also the ones who have the key national sources in intelligence and such where much of the info now will come from.

lol

If only we had a concerned citizen with a conceal carry license in the Boston metro area, this whole thing would have been over 4 hours ago!

I'm pretty sure I didn't advocate for anything like that. But please continue with your Manichean accusations. Your ignorance is clearly not limited to how guns function.

Dude posted this on twitter, he's been sitting there couple minutes before those bullets hit, lucky!

Fuck ....

man, I was totally wrong days before :S.

I would have never have guessed Chechnyans.

I hope they find him alive and bring him to justice and weed out anymore accomplices, especially those who harbored them knowingly.

Yeah you have it mixed up. They hit the 7-11 first, shot the MIT officer who responded, then carjacked someone before being intercepted by the police.

Ah ok, thanks! Either way, what were they thinking? It's unfathomable. They are clearly not stupid individuals, so why stoop to petty theft near the same area as your MAJOR crime???

Holy Shit! What did I wake up to. I'm going to need to find a synopsis.

From MTHanded:

For those waking up here is the summary of what happened in Boston overnight. Attempted to rob 7-11, they killed an MIT police officer, hijacked a car, stole a police vehicle, threw explosives out of window during chase, got into firefights in neighborhood, one of them died from being shot to death by the cops and a bomb vest going off(suspect 1), and the other is hiding and there's supposedly bombs planted all over the place(suspect 2) .

Don't bitch at me, I'm not the one that tried to hijack the thread and turn it into a gun rights discussion. I'm done with the subject because it's stupid and this isn't the thread for it.

Is a city-wide warrant legal in any way shape or form? How do you suspend unwarranted search and seizure for an entire city? Warrant for 400k people's homes?

lol

CNN took hours to get on this story, proceeded to do no good reporting on it, and now they are going to spend all day with their "breaking news" on unverified stories

Really weird how they stayed in the Boston area. Hopefully caught alive so we can understand what the fuck they were doing.

BBC just floated Kurdistan...that would fit #2's tone, he'd confused me before - couldn't place him. In US for 10 years then; so am guessing the brothers were mostly alone and fed one anothers obsessions?

Yes these are the marathon bombers

These have got to be the dumbest terrorists ever. First, they get all caught on video before they planted the bombs. Second, they don't even change their appearance (dye hair, shave head, change the way they dress). Third, they don't flee the scene ASAP but hang around and actually rob a 7-11 (knowing how tight security was I'm Boston). Then they carry more bombs strapped to the chest (you know, just in case they get into a firefight with the police). It seems that, as much planning that must've gone into making these plans possible, they didn't plan much for the aftermath of what they knew it was to be a statehood manhunt. Dumb!

The police chatter isn't too interesting now. Most of the developments now is probably on SWAT side? Since police were first responders it was so damn engaging last night.

Yeah, that's really what we need: Arm people who are scared and itchy trigger fingers because there might be a suspect in the area.

REALLY bad idea imo..

So now protecting your family consists entirely of people running around outside their homes with their firearms? The logical assumption to make is that it is referencing protection of their families IN THEIR HOMES. Which is absolutely a fantastic idea. That you would be able to defend your life and the lives of your family from a terrorist, or anyone else with deadly intentions, when they try to enter your home. You and your family can be the tragic story if you want. At least there are still some people around who allow for the lawful application of lethal force to protect and defend lives.

So when the one dude ran his brother over, the police chased him and he got out of the car and ran? That's the bit I'm confused about. Where is the vehicle now?
