They're the branch of the Army or Air Force that satisfies the “militia” requirement in our constitution. They're basically tasked to protect the US on the domestic front and help out during natural disasters, but they also got called out to serve in Afghanistan and Iraq.

As bad as FOX is they have great tentacles from the News Corp entity and plenty of experts (real and faux) to throw money at. CNN and MSNBC have been shambles on breaking news for a while. FOX is great at international coverage (if you don't get Al Jazeera, etc.) simply because they have people all over. (I've noticed that CNN takes far longer to swap to an International Feed, while FOX often does it within a few minutes if they're on the ball.)
