why did they rob a 7/11

yeah, wtf were they thinking by doing this? Did they want to be caught?

Glad they got one of em and hopefully they get this guy and dont kill him so we can get some answers.

Why do people normally rob things?

Money???

If your face was plastered all over the media, you mean to tell me you would risk being found (assuming the cops didn't know where you were at the time) you would go and rob something and attract attention. Even movie criminals aren't that stupid.. (which is what i am basing this idea on lol)

I'm sure that happens but it is not why most so-called Islamic terror happens. Overwhelmingly, it's poltical.

Right, people need to be careful not to turn this into a religion thing. Anyone that knows anything about Chehneya knows it has so much more to do with politics, nationality, and human rights than religion.

Any Russians in this thread? How much of a threat is Islamic extremism in the caucasus region? I ask because the FBI were rumoured to be studying links between these two terrorists and Al Qaeida.

Not Russian, but NPR was talking about the Chechen rebellion transforming from a nationalist movement to a religious movement over the past 10 years. The current Chechen government is supported by Russia. There is a Caucus-wide Muslim movement involving several countries and the extremist Chechens have joined it.

Wait, who was the guy plastered on all the news stations last night who was laying on the ground face down at gunpoint? You know, the guy they stripped naked and supposedly took into custody? The one suspect is dead and the other guy got away, so who was that guy? Just some random dude in the neighborhood?

Completely innocent and cleared 20 minutes later.

Blame CNN for being a bunch of dumbasses running it for 5 hours.

"He is the brother of the suspects father."

Can you make it any more complicated reporter lady? Just say it's their uncle. That whole segment is pretty dumb. Why am I watching CNN?

The coverage they had for this when it broke was horrible. They kept showing this naked dude and no news at all. Seemed like they were scared to post anything.

In the race to be the first they have become the worst.

Very early on in this whole event the police caught someone made him strip off all his clothes in case he had bombs strapped. Around a similar time reports were flying in that the first suspect was caught. CNN assumed the naked guy was the first suspect and for hours was reairing the footage of him getting apprehended. Later in the night we found out the naked guy was just someone in the wrong place at the wrong time and that the first suspect was killed. Several hours after this confirmation CNN was still raving about naked guy and how he was the first suspect and speculating on his connection. CNN was just so completely out of the loop is why everyone is making fun of them.

Tragically I am not surprised. Sounds like CNN.

Thanks for the info.

How big is this neighborhood they're searching? If everything in Boston is shut down, it seems like it'd be pretty easy to find a used Honda driving around the city.

Sorry are you disputing that use of marijuana is rendered illegal in any jurisdiction, disputing that it's state law in Nevada, or just want the statute that criminalizes it for other reasons?

Not living in Nevada I was completely unfamiliar with the Uniform Controlled Substances Act or any specific piece of legislation they've passed; this was just something I learned in passing watching an episode of Studio 60.

Reviewing the text of the Act, it appears that it is covered in statute 453.411:

Ah, so you are correct there; it appears that in Nevada at least, marijuana use per se as opposed to possession is actually illegal. That's really weird. I have absolutely no idea how they'd charge someone under that statute. Hahaha.
