Blackjack RPG Brave × Junction has been denied release on Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe. Publisher Rideon confirmed the block and said the team is still investigating the cause. The game is already out on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. It's also available on the Japanese Switch eShop, where players can switch between English and Japanese in the settings.
Rideon first flagged issues back in October, stating that the western Switch release was uncertain. In this latest update, the company said distribution has officially been prohibited. Based on Rideon's own statements and parody illustrations posted to the official site, the ban appears tied to content concerns over characters being perceived as children in sexualized situations, despite the game having a CERO B rating in Japan.
The controversy revolves around character designs, specifically defeat screen illustrations that feature revealing outfits. Rideon shared a satirical image where the Magician is informed her design was considered "legally problematic." Her reaction, along with a background poster saying "We won't stand for sexual content involving children", clearly shows the team's frustration with the ruling.
There's no word yet on whether the company plans to modify the content for a potential Western Switch release. Until then, English-speaking players can grab the game on Steam, PlayStation platforms, or through the Japanese Switch version with full English support.
