So many wrestling threads in OT!

There's something about this guy... He's too smooth. Like, visually. He looks like something that was created in a character generator.

Well, that's cause he's been photoshopped to death.

He's had a lot of flab blasted off via CG.

I don't know when the cell-phone thing started, but the "Carcosa" entrance is now legendary.

Do you remember when being a 3 time world champ was a big deal? That's because they had long meaningful title reigns.

Yeah, Hogan being champ 6 times and Bret being champion 5 times, those were insane.

I really liked the approach WWE used to have in the late 80s and 90s. Guys would get maybe 3 years at the top, during which time they'd get 2 or 3 title reigns (maybe one would be 90ish days, one would be more prolonged, between 6 and 13 months). And then they'd be used in the upper card and tag divisions to elevate other wrestlers, or maybe they'd go to the IC title if it were really strong.

The Attitude Era was stacked so you had the belt being passed around like a hot potato from HBK to Austin to Rock to HHH to Taker to Foley to Rock to Jericho to Austin etc, though still reigns were 2-4 months, typically. Rock was typically used as the transitional champion so he had a ton of reigns

They retained the hot potato practice after the attitude era during the brand split, but with no mid card and with twice as many upper card belts (Mainly inflating the # of reigns of guys like Edge, Cena, and Orton, but also with Batista, HHH, Mysterio, Sheamus, Punk, and Del Rio).

Bray and Bo Dallas are both IRS's sons.

And yes, Bray is indeed astonishing. Taking anything away from him because he couldn't make an inferno match entertaining is ridiculous - no one can.

You mean the amount of vague meaningless stuff about him being another false idol? Cuz that's essentially all he talks about ever because it's the only excuse he has for the completely fucking random feuds they put him in.

DEVIL MADE ME DO IT.
That's my problem with it. Bunch of them have nothing related to the opposing wrestler or feud.

Yeah, that's my thing with Jericho.

For all people talk about Cena, who's Jericho ever gotten over? Like truly gotten from midcard to main events? He's lucky this time that Wyatt is a train you can slow down but can't stop.
To help give somebody a rub, he has to have credibility. Jericho has for several years jobbed and not gotten the wins back. From what I recall, he's never beaten Cena. HIs feud with CM Punk over the WWE title, he always lost. He put over Evan Bourne, bunch of guys from NXT in Season 1, Kofi, Ziggler, Ryback, Fandango. It's great he does nothing but put others over, but it means nothing if that's all he does and the WWE does nothing with those guys right after.

I always find it odd when belts change hands so quickly. One time I remember was late 2008/early 2009. Triple H was WWE champion going into Survivor Series 2008 then he lost it to Edge that night. Then at Armageddon the next month Jeff Hardy wins the WWE title from Edge. Edge gets the title back a month later at the Royal Rumble. Then at No Way Out Edge loses the title to Triple H in the Elimination Chamber match, then later that night Edge puts himself into the other Chamber match and wins the World Heavyweight Championship. Edge then loses it at Mania to John Cena. Then at Backlash Edge wins it back.

So in the space of around 5 months Edge won 4 world titles and he's had a total of 11 reigns (his longest being the Armageddon 2007-Wrestlemania 24 WHC title reign of 105 days). I could go on for longer but I'll be here forever.

I have to agree with this. They really can't say that "well Jericho was an Undisputed champion and main evented Mania etc." because people can fall down the card. Miz is a very good example of that. It's why I think Jericho should win his match with Bray at Battleground so that when Bray beats him at Summerslam (presuming that there is a rematch) it gives Jericho some credibility and makes Bray look better for beating someone worth something as opposed to beating "that guy who almost always loses".

i concur Jericho gives them a launching pad but after that they get tossed aside

His gimmick and promos seem pretty cool. I'd watch him on TV.

All this Stardust trash talking is more insane than most things I've seen written about wrestling. I was in tears crying in laughter when he came out and wrestled at the latest pay-per-view. Are you guys just zoning out and not noticing the hilarious little things he's constantly doing? Cody went from generic guy to obvious standout talent right away. (His face mask era was amazing too, but generally overrated, like most things Smackdown was doing in those dark times.)

Also that guy going on about guys having good matches with Kane on the first page is nuts, too. Bringing up Bryan as an example of a good Kane opponent when the first Bryan vs Kane match that comes to my mind was one on Raw early this year which got a loud "boring" chant during the time when Bryan was at his peak. And using this as an example of why Bray was at fault for a dull Inferno match?

Being long and rambling is the point though, he's a cult leader. He's long and rambling but does it so damn well it comes off as spewed silk. Whole world in his has has fallen off as the phone light thing has picked up I think.

It may fit the character, but it does not fit the medium. You have to balance being true to whatever role you're playing with the needs and limitations of the audience.

And even one round of "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" is too much.

I think I'm just not into the gimmick and think that Cody can do better, that's all. Him owing the gimmick doesn't really matter; a top notch performer can and should be able to own the gimmick. I'm just not into it. And it's kinda funny, cause I traditionally like kinda out of left field stuff like that in WWE.

Oh well. :/

...I still like his theme!

His right hand man Luke Harper is also incredible.

Give that man "The Man with the Harmonica" theme and he's easily the next Kane/Taker.
