I think Diablos should listen to Lifted, I'm Wide Awake, and Digital Ash. And if he hates them, we'll give him new ears.

I'm Wide Awake is the only good album of that bunch. Even then...it's nothing that hasn't been done before, and done better.

That said, I'd like to see him. I have a friend who (edit) grew up in Omaha with Conor and knows a lot of the other Saddle Creek folk, that I'm hoping can hook me up with some tickets soon.

I am from Seattle, but my fiance was born and raised in Omaha. We're getting married at her church and then having the reception at the Omaha Press Club. Her Dad used to be a TV news reporter back in the day. Doug Parrott, does the name sound familiar?

When I saw the New Pornographers at Sasquatch 2004, the band did a autograph signing after the show... Neko was the only one that didn't come out and sign...

I've seen her live probably 10+ times (solo/New Porns), but I've never interacted with her. Based on what others have said, is she just a bitch in person or what? Regardless, Thrice All American is still being played at our wedding (we met at college in Tacoma, WA).

That's Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley, not Neko Case. And yes, she is quite the attractive rocker, but still no Ms. Case. And even with RK now signed with Warner, she's more indie than Neko, who is just a good old alt. country girl from Tacoma, WA. Don't let the Canadians tell you different. Has she written songs about Vancouver? NO. She has written two kick ass Tacoma songs, however.

Furnace Room Lullaby is the essential Neko Case album, although you may prefer Blacklisted, as it is less country.

Bloomington is a college town with a huge emo/indie scene, I lived there for several years. It's infested with hipsters, there's a big audience for Bright Eyes and their ilk.

I have actually been to a Bright Eyes show, it was around 2000 IIRC. I played as a guest synth player for a noise-industrial band called Slave Cylinder that opened for them and the Faint as part of a cross-genre show. I thought Conor was obnoxiously histrionic on stage, and their music was immature and pedestrian. But I did give it a chance.

I ripped Oceansize on my iPod and have been listening to it today at work. I can see why you like it, but it's not my thing.
