gonna trade in a load of playstation stuff and get bloodborne, batman and dragons age. yep, gonna 'double dip' because i am a stupid idiot.
also i told my partner that i bought it and she told me she was going to get me one for our anniversary, which is so out of the blue and crazy and thoughtful and now I ruined it. so yep!
anyway don't go anywhere splotee, we can talk bloodborne soon!
Duh!! Double dipper, eh. I'd give you my copy but it's digital. Maybe I should go back to it for the third time and try and actually finish it. It's so bloody long and so not intense it's just hard to stick at it.
I find this difficult to believe. Although when I met you that one time you seemed to have a basic grasp of personal hygiene so you're definitely not hardcore mang.
To say you've never watched anime is to say you've never seen a single piece of animation for the term, in its original Japanese, actually refers to all animation rather than a specific subset.

I watched my first anime series a few months ago (minus Pokemon, Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh which were childhood anime programmes I used to watch). I watched Attack on Titan and thought it was great. I'll have to continue looking for some more interesting anime series.

I excluded them because they are usually excluded in anime discussion plus they are anime series (if you were born in anywhere in the 1990s) that most children have watched as they grew up.
The concept's good, but the execution is flawed. I hate any anime that takes 5 minutes to recap what happened in the last episode and also flashbacks to events that happened 5 or 10 episodes ago.
It's also kind of boring despite what it's all about, since it takes 20 minutes for something interesting to happen - I expected a Walking Dead-esque thriller where no-one is safe and anyone could die, but I ended up with
Eren being an annoying special snowflake who can transform into a Titan and is practically invincible.
I liked it for the fact that it was slow. It builds the tension really well so that when something does happen, it's properly exciting.
I also appreciate the fact that it's serious and doesn't constantly feel the need for fan service. It's nice that anime exists that you can watch without being terrified someone might walk into the room and see you.
Except here's the stinger, he's not special. I don't know how far the anime got before it ended, but the manga got super terrible bad. It became clear that the author was just pulling stuff out of his arse, a bunch of characters had plot armour which lost the tension of the start of the series when it felt anyone could die, oh and all twists are the same
everyone is a titan
The 3DS game is fun though, since it's based on the earlier crazy spider-man shit and not the later boring titan MMA shit.
My issue with AoT was one fairly common with anime but probably the worst example of it I've seen.
EVERYONE IS YELLING THEIR INTERNAL THOUGHT PROCESSES!
HERE ARE THE DOUBTS I HAVE ABOUT MY SITUATION BUT LET'S BE CLEAR ABOUT MY MOTIVATIONS! ALSO, I JUST BURST A BLOOD VESSEL FROM SHOUTING ALL THE TIME! OW!
Fucking banks. They've approved part of my master's loan, but not the living expenses part, which conversely makes it less likely I'll bank with them. I wish I had relatives with a little bit of rainy day money sometimes :/
One of the main things I can't stand with anime besides the tweeness, creepiness and the apparent lack of ability or desire to come up with an original idea is the wierd noises the characters feel the need to make between lines.
If it's not superfluous huh's or wha's they just make slightly uncomfortable breathing sounds that lie somewhere between sex noises and someone straining for a shit.

Apparently in Japan when you notice something out of the corner of your eye it's normal to go "Heh UH-UHHH?". Any mild emotion or slight physical exertion elicits gasps and moans. If that's what Japanese people do in real life the whole place must sound like a massive whorehouse non stop.
I've never heard 'can't come up with an original idea' as a complaint. It seems Japanese anime strength is crazy and weird ideas that Western media tend not to even touch upon (from the animation style, setting and characters).

Well it's not that they can't come up with an original idea, Death Note and Hajime No Ippo spring to mind as two particularly creative shows, but they do often rely on a handful of well worn tropes.
He's the new kid in town and an outcast at school, and if that wasn't hard enough, he's hiding a dark secret...

Japanese presentations are always really awkward to watch, it's always like no one wants to be up there and the last thing they want to do is socialize with other people.

Hope you're feeling better sploat, text me if you need to or just want to chat.
So my house insurance has coughed up for a new phone, less the excess. But I'm not going to get it yet, because I'm on a course this week and I really need to concentrate with no distractions so I can pass the foundation exam on Thursday and then the Practitioners exam on Friday.
Also I have a gig Thursday night in the Dublin Castle in Camden. And I finally have my Star Wars Secret Cinema thing coming up on Saturday, so I've been working on my outfit for that. I decided on Heavy Metal Jedi, will post pics after the event.
Busy busy busy, hardly any time for Gaf at the mo!

I may be utterly miserable but Bloodborne really is something. If you haven't played it yet don't spoiler anything - read nothing, watch nothing! I'm not entirely sure I'm going the right way or doing the right thing but I'm up to a boss fight which is up there with Ornstein and Smough for me (or maybe even more fun) (for folks who've played it:
Shadow of Yharnam
). I can't wait to go into new game plus and it feels like it has whole things that I haven't even dipped into yet (
Beasthood? Chalices? Runes?
). It might even be better than Dark Souls although I can't tell yet. It feels like more of a slow burn though, the first 10 or so hours it was really just "Ok, this is faster Souls, still good but don't get the fuss", after 20 it was "ok, I understand why there have been these changes now" and then now at 30 its like "ok, this is just as good as Dark Souls".

Well obviously, but some far more than others. The amount of anime set in or around a high school and featuring screechy, prepubescent girls and/or anthropomorphic teddy bears is unsettling.

People copy what sells well (though in Japan's case that well should be in quotes since most of it sells like garbage), that's why western TV is drowned with crime shows. Although anthropomorphic teddy bear is an oddly specific example that tends to only show up in shows for little girls made to sell toys, so now I'm wondering what you watch.
EVERYONE LISTEN TO THAT SMASHING PUMPKINS SONG THAT NOBODY KNOWS BUT IS BETTER THAN STUPID MAIN ALBUMS BECAUSE MACHINA 2 WAS WAY BETTER THAN MACHINA AND ADORE AND ALL OF EVERYTHING AFTER MELLON COLLIE
