Burnout 3 killer!

OMG Just got the Flatout PC demo and its just awesome!

The physics rock, the frame rate is a rock solid 70 FPS :P

I must admit though, this is a Burnout 3 clone, but its really fun and awesome.

Some screens

ok i can't take screens while playing the game, enjoy those and download the demo

fucking awesome demo

I highly recommend the Filerush torrent. I'm blazing along at 300+ k/s, although I won't be able to check the demo out until tomrrow...

I checked it out. The only gripes I have are way less sensation of speed than Burnout 3, and some loose handling. Seeing your guy fly through the windshield is funny though, the first few times at least.

wow lol

Racing games with physics and greatly made crashes = Burnout clones??

OMGWTF all the racing games next-gen will be Burnout clones! - you heard it here first!

-- By the way, i would say that Flatout is more in the Destruction Derby family than in Burnout's.

Not too bad....

The game is nowhere near Burnout 3 quality, that's for sure. I dislike the controls, the track design is nothing special, and the game is pretty slow. It looks great, but I'm not really impressed...

Word. Only thing that was interesting was the high jump, that was pretty fun.

You fucking idiot play the demo.

When you crash your car, camera goes into a slow mo mode like Burnout 3 and you can control it too just like Burnout 3 by pressing the up arrow

I have no doubt that this was inspired by Burnout 3

-I think its both Burnout 3 and Destruction Derby

Is there a hood view? I'm going to pick up the Xbox version tomorrow but I heard some nasty rumours that there isnt a hood/fp-view available.

No hood view in the demo, but there is a fps view.

i know that lol. This gameplay detail must be inspired from Burnout but it's not making it a Burnout clone at all anyway. The style of the game is clearly Destruction Derby style.
In GTASA when you take a boost with your car, there's a blurry effect on screen and it even shakes. This is inspired by Need For Speed Underground. GTASA is still not a Need for Speed Underground clone.

Media from flat out has been out since before Burnout. This game has been in development for a long time.

Wasnt' there a blur effect from nitros in Midnight Club II?

hmm, i think so yes. Anyway, it's not a debate about "who was the first to implement it".
I wonder if it was shaking at high speed like NFS...

The part where you have to launch the driver as high as possible is funny though. For a few minutes at least :P

The high jump mini game rocks. 100+ is my highest. And by looking around there seem's to be loads of more mini games.
Oh the racing part is nice too.

Well, yet another PC demo that runs like complete ass...

Now, I understand that my PC is hardly top of the line, but it's amazing how turning everything down to its lowest settings hardly even gives any performance benefits any more.

I turned everything down in the Flatout demo, dropped the resolution to a measly 640x480, and the game still ran at an unplayable framerate, and it looked pretty bad, to boot.

its coming to both PS2 and XBOX so don't worry. :)

I will quit PC gaming after this gen because its too expensive.

Wow, that's suprising...

I was impressed by the performance. My PC is pretty middle of the road right now, but Flatout runs at a solid 60 fps (even with all cars on the screen). It looks great (though I think Burnout 3 still looks better).

Well, what's your definition of "middle of the road", not to mention your specs?

P4-2.4 GHz + Radeon 9700 Pro + 1gb ram

That's middle of the road nowadays? Damn, I guess my system is aging more than I thought.

I thought the Radeon 9xxx cards were the recent ones though?

The x800 line is ATI's latest.
I really like the high jump. Hopefully the other mini games are as fun.

Flatout is awesome. I picked up the Xbox version yesterday. Graphics are really smooth and sense of speed is there. I'm still undecided if I like or dislike the motion blur... but crashes look great and the "professional" handling feels good. Last time I had this much fun doing donuts was with Moto GP. =)

Too bad I cant try it on Live until 11.11 when I get Halo 2 with Live coupon. I cancelled my yearly supscription few weeks ago. :\

I don't think the ideas were taken from burnout 3, since this has been under development for a long time.

Anyway it's a great game. Doesn't really remind me of burnout (tho I haven't played burnout :P)

And show some respect to it, since it's the first finnish PS2 game ever.

Edit: Oops forgot Max Payne and Max Payne 2 they are on PS2 too.

Yes, but PS2 ports werent done by a finnish team. Bugbear did all the versions by themself. :)

And I agree that Flatout does have very little to do with BO3. Flatout has wide tracks, you can drive pretty far off from the track so you have to drive curves more carefully. BO3 is more like a "tunnel" racing game, roads are like tunnels with walls on each side. You can bounce from and lean to those walls.

roads are like tunnels with walls on each side.

That sounds a bit harsh...

While that may be true, that also fails to take into account that some (many) of the areas can be extremely wide.

I think the game's an absolute rush (PC demo). But after playing it, I checked Gamestop.com and EBworld.com and they don't even list the game (search option). WTF. No US release?

Somebody post Live impressions, because this could be a killer app if the code is good. Considering the PC version only supports LAN:(, I wonder how good it actually is though.
