I wonder if the final retail version will have the speed blur. I've hard from the impression of the pirated version that it's not in it, but it would be a shame to drop Burnout's signature visual effect

Well, it wasn't really a signature until BO3. It was there in the others, but only during boosting, and really could only be seen on PS2 (XBOX BO2 really doesn't have it at all).
That blur would help SO MUCH with the 30 fps. I really really hope that it ends up in the final version. Was it present at E3, Marco?

I think blur on such a small screen would be more of a hindrance(lack of clarity vs. sense of speed) than a help... from what some reviews have said it already can be hard to see oncoming vehicles at the higher stages of the game with some of the faster vehicles....
I could almost swear it was there, but maybe I've mixed the released screenshots with my actual experience. Almost all of the screens for this game had this blur on them.
Darien, the blur would be only on the outer edges of the screen, I doubt it would hinder the ability to spot the oncoming traffic.

Burnout blur typically resides on the sides of the screen, so it would not prevent you from seeing the road before you.
I've heard the game is quite jaggy too, unfortunately. Wipeout and RR are quite clean looking (especially Wipeout), but apparently this game has a bright, shimmering, jaggy look to it. :\ Didn't someone else mention white specs between textures or something (in that thread from the other day)? I hope that's not a huge problem...
This wasn't programmed by Criterion themselves, though, was it? Does it even use Renderware or anything? The whole "look" just seems different. Hopefully it ends up looking good enough on the screen itself in motion.
