Burnout Legends (PSP) video/interview

Having stuff unlockable only through multiplayer will ensure that the servers will be busy

I guess it's early but the graphics don't look so hot - not as good as BO3 or RR yet. Cars, trackside stuff and, uhm, sparks look downgraded.

Looks to be a fun and fast, though.

Hmmm kept the sense of speed, no vehicle reflections and it looks like not that many parts fly off the vehicles during crashes... but again the sense of speed is there... so I'm game.

I think it looks great so far! My only complaints regarding the visuals is that the frame rate drops during the crash sequences, and some of the polygonal roadside obstacles and scenery are noticeably downgraded. The cars look great, and the sense of speed is well represented.

If they can also manage to squeeze online play in there, then that would be hot!

BOO YA! This is going to be sweet. Looking at the screens behind the guy talking, you see that the load time before a race is not that long either. But I do hope that car graphics are placeholder until the game is released. They do have awhile before release, right? So alot of work can be done.

I'm very glad he said they're early in development. The foundation of Burnout seems in place, but it needs a hell of a lot of optimization and graphical improvement, imo. I think they could definitely do it, though. I will be picking it up.

Also doesn't help that they only put the most fluid footage behind the guy as he talked, only showing direct feed of the choppier take downs, which never let you see how fast/fluid the game gets.

It'll probably look a lot better at PSP's native res, blown up PSP stuff doesn't look good.

agreed, too many jaggies with the picture blow up like that, and the guy said it himself they're still early into the developement but all the fundamentals of the game is already there.

Oh BS. You guys had no problem with blown up pics from this article when you thought they were real. Let's take a look again, shall we?

Yeah, all I heard was "PSP IS TEH AMAZING!" "INCREDIBLE!" "I JUST CAME!" etc. Not a peep about "SHOULDN'T BLOW UP TEH PSP SCREENS!!"

Now that reality is this:

...all I hear is excuses.

I was a little put off by the video at first after thinking it'd be cleaner (knowing Criterion), but watch the vid again and watch the 320x180 version instead of the full-frame one. Except for the framerate drops, it's looking pretty good to me now that I've gotten over the initial impression (that clip in the background is disorienting.) It's got me hooked.

Sadly he made no mention of improving the graphics between now and release, only that remaining development time is focused on 'oncoming traffic' and online component.

Maybe it's impllied, but for an insecure guy like myself it woulda been nice for him to throw us a bone.

Oh this game looks like shit! After watching the video, I have to say that this is a complete embarrassment for the PSP. It looks like total shit blown up on my 21-inch flatscreen monitor!!!

this game would have looked better on nintendo ds. PSP SUX

we could have had touch screen burnout effects too!!

Ya that looks bad. It needs a lot of optimization, I dunno why they released that video.

I am thinking alot of that stuff is placeholder. The game is not out until Sept., right?

It needs work. Thing that stands out most for me is that the crash physics and damage modeling have been simplified. I hope they can build in more of the nuance that BO3 offered before it ships.

And NO ONE confirmed online play yet. Just that they're working towards it and hope to include it.

What did I fucking tell you people! Those previous "PSP pics" of Legend in that thread was pure BS!

I win again. Yay for me.

:lol Since you're going to make a big deal out of it and try to take credit for it, maybe you should take a closer look at that thread - you weren't the only one to think the pics looked off, and you weren't the first.

Alright, you can join in on the fun. Come on in! The water's fine! :lol

I love how people think making a game fast is a great technical achievement
In many situations it is, though. Both now and back in the 80s, for reasons quite similar.

This is really disappointing.........
The key elements in Burnout as the traffic and the crashes look like shit....actually the traffic could be considered absent :D :lol
And let's forget about the really low poly cars and heavy pop up in the tracks.
I hope this game is 20% in development......
