ok, I was just at best buy and they had this set up... after all the praise on GAF and my constant hating I had to give it a try.


ITS FUN! :D

I picked smoke on the water (since its easy as hell to play in RL) it was a little rough at 1st, I kept trying to play the actual frets, instead of what it wanted me too. After a few minutes though I got the hang of it.. a small crowd started to actually gather around me :lol


anyway me = OWNED!

this is now at the top of my xmas list!

The game is a lot of fun... just got it late last week because it took forever to get into the Great White North, as someone else has already mentioned, but it's a ton of fun, and even my wife is rocking out...

Gamestop has sold out company wide, and has a empty warehouse of the game/guitar.
Great news for niche fans, should certainly see the sequal here.
 
It's my favorite game of the year without a doubt. If I keep playing it, it might end up being my overall favorite of all time.

It would be nice if they advertised it. I didn't even know the game existed until about a month ago.
 
When I get to Bark at the Moon and Cowboys From Hell on Hard, it's going to be tough times for me... a lot of the early songs are plenty challenging on hard... and those two songs are tough enough on medium..
 
I saw this at Best Buy tonight -- HOLY CRAP THIS LOOKS LIKE FUN! I might have to pick it up for some after-Christmas joy.

Go to Best Buy, a lot of stores across the nation have a decent supply (3+) of the game and some of them even have it in store to try out.

I found out today that RedOctane or Sony has shipped out demos of the game to be used in store kiosks at EB. Hopefully they'll sell a ton of copies for the Holiday rush.
 
I bought this last night and it's MUCH more fun than Guitar Freaks. I beat Ziggy Stardust on Expert tonight. Those scales are really fun. More Than A Feeling is the best song in the game.
 
I think everyone likes more than a feeling cause its such a gimme, I mean its a nostalgic song, but I can do 94k on it on medium, I cant do that with many of the other songs on medium

Killer Queen is really fun on Expert. I love hammer ons and pull offs. Those make the game. I just wish it was Freddie singing.

I have yet to try any of the extra songs. I'm going through career mode first, then I'll unlock all of the other songs.

I actually hate the song, but I never really appreciated the guitar lines before. I still don't like the song, but it's fun to play.
 
By the way, how can you have a guitar game without Juke Box Hero? It feels wrong. It's like Karaoke Revolution missing Don't Stop Belivin'.
 
I bought the game, and an extra controller (guitar). But now they have that new cool cherry red one to taunt me with. :(

Killer Queen sucks! No One Knows and Take Me Out are always tough for me, too.
 
Haha, zz top kicking my ass, incubus kicking my ass, queen kicking my ass. I got to the shred tier then retreated to a set of infected to feel good about myself. I did break 100k with the song tho, havent done that with a song yet, but I used star bower on 4x right when that repeating note hit and I think that did it.

I asked this in the #ga channel last night and was told that it does.

As for the guy saying they're sold out, I bought one from a Gamestop last night and they had tons of them in Houston. I returned it five minutess later because it's a lot cheaper from Best Buy. GS wanted $88 after tax. Got it from Best Buy for $68.
 
Best Buy.com has it for like $60 (not sure when that's ending). Plus, screw Gamestop and EBgames, they're trying to rip people off by raising the price from $69.99 to $79.99.
 
Where is the cheapest place to pick this up in Canada?

I just ordered a set from EB tonight and the cashier said it'll be ~$96CDN after tax or something. I just checked BestBuy.ca and it costs $90CDN excluding tax. :/

i've heard it does. theres an option in guitar freaks for a controller configuration and one of them works apparently. maybe it was the other way around. *shrug*

Well, Amazon only seems to have the sellers' version in stock and I don't th ink they ship video games out of the US anyway. I hit ebay for mine - got it for close enough to store price with extra for shipping.

It's the other guitar that I want, though. Do they sell them loose in stores over there or do you have to get them straight from Red Octane?
 
I would buy it in a heartbeat.. if only it was available in Europe or if I could import it without needing a new mortgage or something. As much as I want to play it, I just can't afford to spend 150-200€ on a single game :(
 
like any other rhythm game, if you play it enough, your fingers will start doing stuff by reflex.

i've only got those last 2 song's in expert to finish, but they're just so damn hard :lol
 
If you have never played guitar before like me and you pick this game up (which is the best game ever, by the way), heed my warning:

The instinctive way to play the strum bar is to just hit it down with the thumb (at least that's how I did it, and how every single person who's picked up my controller has instinctively done it). You will never be able to complete the hard difficulty this way, or get more than four stars at the most on the harder songs on medium.

Instead of hitting it down, pinch the strum bar between your thumb and forefinger (as is illustrated in the tutorial, or like you're holding a guitar pick). Once I started doing this I had to unlearn some bad habits, but once I did, the earlier songs on medium became super-easy, and I'm getting close to being able to nail the superfast bits of Bark at the Moon and Crossroads.
