BUY GUITAR HERO! AND AN EXTRA CONTROLLER!!

i've only got 2 song's left in expert, and i only strum down.

it's possible

Jesus. When I try Bark at the Moon while only strumming down, my hand feels like it's about to fall off by the end.

does anyone play it with a real pick? When I tried it in best buy (on medium) I just kinda strummed it like I would a real guitar, but the only way to play fast solos on a real guitar is with a pick.

Damn I kinda of want to go pick it up, but I already asked my GF to get it for me for xmas :D

You're missing out, then.

Also,

Import.. goddamnit. :/

Anyway, I tried it at a Gamecrazy. Didn't exactly knock me out. When a game doesn't knock me out, I don't spend money on it. Simple.

Ok, so I went to a buddies house and played the crap out of this game. AWESOME!
SO what are the chances that this sucka is coming to the XBox or better yet the 360?

I would be happy with a straight up port.

I dunno they're tight with sony arent they? Most of the rythm fuk developers are.

Its worth owning a ps2 for tho, get one used and this game or just hit up your friend a lot

I have a question about how you "strum" the guitar. I've read some places that people say it hurts your fingers. Can you use a pick? Comments please. :)

There are no strings so there is nothing to use a pick on. It’s kind of like an elongated light switch that defaults to the middle. You hold down the coloured cords on the shaft of the Guitar and then press the switch up or down. If you get good enough I think you can alternate although I only ever pressed down on the switch.
Never hurt my hands either.

You just have to lightly tap it, thats why I do anyway, downtap, I dont actually strum it cause that would hurt and its not a string so why strum.

No. I'm really serious, but what if I'm already a guitar hero? What then? Will this be boring?

I wondered the same thing with Samba De Amigo as I am a god with the Maracas. :D

Chances are you will pick it up faster... but it's far from a real guitar.
I would be willing to bet if you love playing your guitar and you picked this thing up you would become addicted immediately.

The local Best Buy is sold out -- what SoCal stores/locations would be likely to have a copy of this in stock? If not before Christmas, what are the chances of a copy showing up before New Year's?

It's hard to say. I think they've been all over the map with regards to distribution. Hell, it didn't make into Canada until his month. I'd try Fry's 'cause it seemed like the only place to consistently have the DDR-pack with the mat when it was new and hard to find on the PSX.

You might want to check on Best Buy's site too... seems like a few stores in the San Diego area (and one in the LA area) still have stock.

As for how the game's going, I "finished" hard, but it will be a long time before I can five-star all the songs...

We got two copies over here in Covina today ($80 :\)

I'm stuck at the last few expert songs. I can't get through the wacky prog part of Frankenstein, and Bark At the Moon...yeah.

I'm strumming it with a bass pick and it's useable. If you want to strum with your fingers then pinch your thumb and index finger togethern and strum with your nail

Where would be the best place to purchase this with an extra controller? Also, is it a sure thing that there'll be more versions of this down the line? I would LOVE to have Guitar Hero, but I don't like the idea of coughing up $100+ for one game.

...I will though, but a sequel would make me feel much better :-D. So, again, what's the best deal online for GH w/2 controllers?

Also...is that Keyboard Mania game real???? I was just saying I'd like a keyboard videogame (I know there was something like that on the snes a long time ago) that would actually help me learn to play.

There are three remaining copies at the Manhattan Beach Fry's (as of 1 PM)...and they are selling it for $70!

Ok, I've blasted my way through 14 songs on easy and attempted to play one on medium. Dope ass game thus far, and man I can't imagine using all five keys! ANyone got tips for holding this thing? Or any tips at all? I have this bad habit of my pinky finger wigging out!?!

But I totally agree with everyone this is A GAME TO OWN!

I got this a week ago and I am blown away. The songs don't get old since you're actually 'playing' them. The learning curve is done almost perfectly and there is a ton of songs to select. It took roughly a week to master medium (save for Cochise due to extremely fast hammer-on/pull off sequence) and I just started and barely passed the first set of hards on the first try. The last button is going to take some getting used to. those pesky hammer-ons and pull-offs are still a bit hard to grasp as well.

Definetly worth the money. Too bad it cost so much to import when getting nailed with $30 extra for Canadian shipping and $25 customs.

Cowboys on expert is impossible without up-strumming.

Yes - Konami released Keyboardmania on the PS2 in Japan in 2001 and packaged it with a USB keyboard. Keyboardmania II (aka. 2nd & 3rd Mix) came out later as a game-only release, though you can also get the keyboards separately. The bad news is...

...Keyboardmania sets (game + 1 controller) regularly fetch $120+... when you can find it :( And Keyboardmania II is even more hard to find. :( :(

Both Keyboardmania and Guitar Hero do rock though :)

Another axe in the collection!
