Sorta curious to try DQ 8 but I have nothing to compare it to. I love Dark Cloud 2 forever, is DQ8 a comparable experience? Not into random battle encounters or handholding in RPGs, I dont think I can do with that, but if it's like Dark Cloud (solid combat and dungeon crawling, town exploration/creation) I may jump into it.

How much for just DQ8 and how much is shipping to Canada?

Except for special mobs and boss battles, everything is random battles. Best thing to compare it to if you haven't played other DQ games is earlier Final Fantasy games even though the battle system is pretty much completely different, it's still turn based/random battles.

Unfortunately, there are random battles, but they aren't too bad. Plus, there are items you can use to decrease random encounters, and you can fast travel to places you have already been.

This game has solid turn based combat, but it definitely does not hold your hand. You have to do some grinding, or you won't be able to beat certain areas. It is an old school RPG in that aspect.

Honestly this is one of the best games in the DQ series, and is definitely worth playing!

If you're talking about the Club Nintendo code then yes, you need a family account.

If it's for the actual download codes of games, you can redeem as many as you want. They're just like regular digital copies.
