Hey everyone, I'm totally new to the whole buy/sell thing, but I figured if I was going to try and sell something, it might as well be on NeoGAF. There may be some issues due to my inexperience, so please be patient with me/
Alright, so I have a NA PlayStation Vita-1000 sitting around collecting dust and thought that it might get more use from one of you guys. Here's a list of what will be included:
-PlayStation Vita-1000 NA WiFi model (original box and documents included).
-32GB Memory Card for the PlayStation Vita.
-PlayStation Vita-1000 USB Cable and AC Adapter.
I want to sell all of the above for $120.00. I have both Steam and Paypal so hopefully we can figure out payment quickly.
As for shipping, I would prefer to ship to locations in NA but we may be able to work something out, so don't be afraid to PM me.
The Vita itself is in good working condition, but there is noticeable wear and tear since I've owned it (and used it vigorously) since launch. There are some scratches on the sides (pics below) but none on the screen. Buttons and triggers are a bit mushy while the d-pad is more clicky when pressing on the left direction. The touch screen and back touch screen input work fine, and the back touch pad is in relatively good condition. The cables are in working condition, with the USB cable being a new replacement as the older one was ripped up during a road trip last year. The screen itself has no display issues outside of the mura prevalent in most Vita OLED screens.

I know it's been said before, but everyone's biggest takeaway from this Eddie situation should be: Don't use PayPal Gift.
Or at least, don't use it unless you're fully prepared to lose everything. I've used it myself on here a couple of times, but that was with Members and for smaller items. Being a junior member, I would never expect someone to pay me with the Gift option and, even when I eventually become a Member, I still wouldn't expect it. It just doesn't make sense, especially for larger items.

Damn, I was tempted to buy eShop codes from Eddie, but I guess my better judgment correctly intervened and stopped me. He didn't get banned because of his posts in this thread though, right? Completely unrelated to his dealings?
I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt because he seemed well-intentioned and might still work out the refunds, but yeah, those prices seemed shady.

I thought that I should post here for anyone having problems with user Eddie Griffin (recently banned) and not sending their item. Against my better judgement, I did purchase one (relatively inexpensive) item from him with the agreement it would be delivered (to the best of mother natures ability anyways) before Sunday due to me being out of town for a bit. Unfortunately, upon contacting him by his Paypal email he seemed very unconcerned with my particular transaction and more concerned about me trying to get him unbanned.
While I know I do not have the power to get him unbanned, I was willing to try to help him if I felt it was all just a big misunderstanding, unfortunately he has shown he might not be cut out to sell here through his various responses. To make a long story short, he said he hasn't sent it out despite being 3 days later, said he is busy today, and can't send it on Friday due to the post office maintenance (??), and said the earliest he can send it is Monday. He made sure to first follow up that I should be messaging Evilore as if we were close pals to get him unbanned. Unfortunately, due to that shipping date being way beyond the original intended delivery date, I requested a refund in which he responded with this
"Ill see what happens first before I do so, just in case I got time to get it to you faster. If not ill work on the refund.
But yes, please send that message. Would appreciate it."
Due to a mixture of his post here and the messages received, I think it felt pretty obvious that i'm not going to get my item or refund. I contacted Paypal, despite making the mistake of using the friends and family payment option, the representative was willing to open a dispute for me that gives him the option to respond and resolve the issue, if no response is made the case will close with a refund on my end, otherwise he has to prove the item is sent by a tracking number. The agent continued to mention that, due to the volatile nature of the transaction that if the item arrives in a non intended condition, that I can shift the claim over to a damaged/etc item claim and still have options.
He did of course let me know that it was a mistake to use that payment option, and gave me a run down on the rules and differences, and I hate to say it only reinforces that the only safe way to handle this stuff is through a normal payment, as they are under no obligation to help you otherwise. Still, he seemed very willing to help despite it all, I was honest about the situation, said I made a mistake and it seemed to go smooth for now. For anyone else who feels they will not be getting their item, I would advise calling them and letting them know that others are having the same problem, let them know you made a mistake using the wrong payment method and they might be willing to help you, especially if the seller has many open disputes already.
In the end, I hope everyone gets their item as expected, but the tone of my messages was that it's a hostage situation until his ban is lifted (likely never), so that was all I could do. Even if he sends it, i'll not be surprised if it's damaged or otherwise not as intended, so while I don't think this is over, it's nice to know Paypal has gotten involved.
Man, I am sorry to hear that. You are a great buyer (this brother bought the HALO Xbox from me).
I hope your issue resolves immediately.
Lottery? He was banned because of the lottery.
This is good advice. The only caveat I would say is that if you have a close GAF relationship and the fees are going to be quite a bit, if we're talking about someone like Genejin I don't bother with fees because I consider them a trusted seller. In general not using PayPal Gift is unquestionably the safer policy, though.

Damn those are some good prices, someone buy this man's video cards.
Lottery?
Seriously, buy one. I bought one from him awhile ago (MSI, I think) and it's still going strong. I'm so tempted to go SLI.Wts:

Perhaps the terms of the thread need to be updated and at least require photos of the actual items as well as a username + date in the photo. Also only allowing members to be active sellers here. Thanks, it's been good dealing with you and basically every other person I've dealt with here as well. I'm definitely not swayed from conducting business here, I knew the risk involved when doing that particular transaction and figured i'd take the gamble. Still not gonna lay down and let my money be taken for nothing though, in the end the amount I could have lost is relatively small, but there is a principle to the situation that needs to be reinforced. Anyone with any logic could see there was something off, I was just hoping to make a decent transaction out of it and tossed the dice.
I should also add, the Paypal rep said that one aspect that helped me a lot, was that in the note section I made it very clear what the money was for and what was expected. This is a general policy I do with any transactions I handle for both my records and to have it on their record what exactly was meant to happen. Something to keep in mind if you don't already do it, those notes can help save you. I did get a response from Eddie in my E-mail, unfortunately, it was just him being angry and still not expressing any intention to quickly tie up our business, so I imagine i'll just have to wade through the escalation process.
Hopefully everyone gets their item or a refund, but it's probably best to act quick due to how quick these kinds of things can degenerate into account closures, etc.
On a lighter note, I forgot I still had those 3ds Smash brothers demo codes, I have 2 left I believe. Since it's already pretty late in the week, i'd be willing to give them away for free here. Anyone who has interest, just quote this post. Whoever the first two people to quote the message will be the ones to get the codes (so I don't get a ton of PMs with no codes left)
Edit: If you are one of the people who do quote this post, you may also send me a PM in case I don't see it immediately, I can have the code out with the quickness.

I'd more so say that the Gift payment option needs to be heavily discouraged as a payment option. Yeah it cost a bit more, but in the end the peace of mind and safer transaction should be worth it. Fact is, when someone sends a normal Paypal payment, they can print a shipping label through that transaction and send it to the buyer with a tracker added on for free, and because it's all handled through PP, it allows the entire transaction to be tethered to a single point of contact. It helps protect sellers and buyers, as it seems here, you're much more likely to run into a bad seller then a bad buyer ya know?
Requiring buyers to use the gift option for Paypal should be disallowed. It's 3% - either get over it or tack it onto your prices.
If it's a junior without any selling feedback that's a good idea but if it's someone who's an established seller with good feedback I don't see any problem with gift option. You can still print all your labels through paypal with gift option.
This.
Alternatively if you attach a bank account you can skip the fee entirely.
Sellers get charged the 3% for receiving the money.
I just use a calculator and add the fees when I'm sending money.
Really? That's kind of crappy. Sorry anyone I've paid recently, it didn't even give me the option to choose between gift or purchase when I used my account. I thought the fee was removed if the purchaser used their account.
Edit: I'll PM the last person I bought something from to see if they got charged.
I'd even go so far as to say junior members should be disallowed in the B/S/T thread, but that's just me.

As for the people who got scammed, that's awful, but someone new requiring Gift option is the reddest of red flags. Refusing to accept adding on the fees in lieu of the gift option seals the deal even more.

+1Blazenumb1 is a junior member but he is an amazing seller.
