So what is everybody think of the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG?

I really like how much the added to the lore and the monster manuals and all that are fun to read. It's surprisingly popular I heard too and probably one of the few role-playing games that require much combat and is more about problem solving.

I remember one of the early editions had an entire page of all the purple prose adjectives Lovecraft would use and said that if you read it, it would cost you -1 real life sanity points

I loved the shit out of CoC back in the day, between the OG, the modern version, and Cthulhu by Gaslight. Not kept up with it for decades.

It's a sad and tragic story of why we have all this Lovecraft stuff freely available (he died alone with no family) but its also a massive treasure that his friends and supporters carried on his vision and kept his voice alive for all this time.
