I am loving the MP for COD2, but my buddies and I HATE the lack of a lobby system. I missed the developer interviews for this game prior to launch. Did they say anthing about a patch?

Plus, anyone who wants to pay with me in the evenings (east coast) just send me a PM or post in this thread. Headquarters rules!!!

What is a multiplayer shortcoming is that the lobby system Xbox owners have grown accustomed to with Halo 2 is nowhere to be found. COD2 is a different game, I know, but the convenience of being able to keep a party together from round to round is one of those things you don’t really appreciate until it’s gone. And, well, it’s not there in COD2. After each multiplayer game, the system drops gamers back into the main lobby, where they’re forced to start another match and manually re-invite their friends. Infinity Ward did this for ranking purposes, so players could never just team up with a bunch of all-stars, but it’s there even in unranked matches, the very matches that the casual, lets-get-together-with-our-buds type of gamers will play. That’s bound to be a disappointment, and it is to us, particularly considering the fun that’s to be had in COD2 multiplayer. Hoping to pop right back in for a rematch? Keep hoping; you’ll need an invitation from one of your friends to accomplish it.

Interesting. i have had exactly the opposite experience. I can't stand Perfect Dark while i am digging Call of Duty. And believe me I thought it was going to be the other way around.

I doubt there will be a patch ANY time soon, considering how poor the support for the PC version is. I was really excited about playing this game online initially, but after seeing how poorly it's instituted plus the 8 player limit, I really have no interest now. Luckily, the single player game is great and is worth playing through on different difficulties.

I am feeling the same way. COD2 has great potential for online.Unfortunately, I truly believe the guys at Infinity Ward will do NOTHING about this in the end just based on the current lack of support for the PC version.

I just can't feel good about buying an FPS with broken online.

If they fix the CoD2 online, I'll be a huge fan and will likely buy the game. In the meantime, single player is excellent and the game is a must-rent, at a minimum.

They never did release any sort of cheat prevention for the PC version. Quite a shame, as the multiplayer can be pretty fun when you aren't playing against people with bots/hacks.

Yeah, I've experienced lag too. Since COD2 is the only game I've played on Xbox Live so far, I was afraid my new DSL connection was slow. Glad to hear it's just a result of COD2's net code (or whatever).

Also the Sniper Rifle should be fixed,someone shouldn't be able to run around unzoomed and be 5 feet away from you and shoot you with it,kinda kills the realism.

so the XBL COD2 has max. 8 players, what about the PC version? I heared from a mate he played on a server with 60 people (only one server has that amount of space)

Or maybe just stop writing shitty multiplayer software which prevents you from playing with your friends online.

I don't care if there aren't 32 players. I just want it to fucking work right for once. Many times it tells me it can't join a server. The games online component is a piece of shit.
