Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare PC Performance Thread

I had tried DSR before, and for some reason it looked like shit compared to my own custom resolutions. I then realized I was letting my display do the scaling instead of the GPU. I'm guessing that's probably what's wrong.

Did You turn off blurring in the control panel? Its set to 30% by default :p

How does the game works with FX8350 and GTX970?

And is it true that camera or object blur is missing in PC version?

Friend of mine can't even play the game, it seems like his files are corrupt or something. SP works fine but as soon as he starts the MP the game crashes and it gives him a fatal error.
Anybody else having the same? He has already validated all the files and redownloaded everything.

Maxed everything out on my 670 as I was curious (except shadow cache of course) and honestly I was getting maybe 1 frame per 5 seconds... Yeah.

Is gameplay too fast?

Nah, its not that fast. Though some weapons have really strange damage, but thats probably because of p2p.

I have strange heavy framedrops every few seconds for brief second. It appear mostly at the beginning of the match. Dunno if thats some HDD streaming, VRAM bottleneck [1gb, but was testing even low settings], CPU bottleneck, because sometimes its 100%, other times only 70-80% [i5 2500k], really strange.

defender and instinct do this for me and all my friends they need to release a patch every other map is fine though.

Game runs perfectly smooth at real high settings for me but I'll get somewhat frequent stutters that can last a full second, especially in the campaign. Seems to mainly occur when I get shot.

Downloaded the new drivers and it made no difference with my SLI performance...I rolled them back and reinstalled 344.60. Still no cigar..still getting single GPU performance.

I checked my GPU load readings in Nvidia Inspector and it showed my second GPU is pretty much not being used while my other GPU is under 99% load.

Anyone else having these issues?

Weird. First thing, have you got SLI enabled in the Nvidia control panel? See last page I showed my SLI utilisation, it's not great but the performance is good. Never drops below 60 @4K

I know this is the most basic of basics but...did you reenable SLI in your control panel? (since anytime you update a driver it disables it)

Every time a cut scene is playing during load times it hitches like crazy. Doesn't matter what I change the preload settings to. Real annoying.

My card is on the lower end but I'm able to run this game at 60 fps on medium to low. Not bad in my book. How is the performance in multiplayer for most people. Better or worse than the campaign?

SLI support is fantastic. Hopefully the FOV is fixed in single player.

But holy crap. AmI the only one getting terrible connection on MP? Constant lagging and stuttering. I realize it's due to the fact that it's because of P2P.

Same. It's almost like it's running at half-speed sometimes. If I alt-tab out of the game, I can hear it still playing, and it sounds normal. The second I go back, it stutters like fuck again. I can't play the campaign with that problem. The videos take twice as long to finish, making the load times unbearable.

Single player works and runs great. Whenever I try to launch multiplayer or coop I get the Steam error of "Failed to start game. (unknown error)". I think this is weird considering I meet all of the specs and CoD: Ghost multiplayer never gave me this error. I made sure to have everything updated Direct X and drivers.

What gives man? This is lame.

Windows 8.1 Update 1
i5-3570K @ 4.2ghz
16gb of ram
GTX 680 4gig OC
2TB HDD

Anybody have any tips or suggestions?

Edit: Fixed it by deleting the appcache folder.

Runs better with the new drivers on my 780 Ti Classifieds in SLI (1484mhz on both cores) though still slightly bizarre GPU Usage.

Multiplayer though still a shitty 91fps........ fail

They better uncap it like it was in BOII the cunts.

Ok, so I'm not here to rant or anything, I just wanna let off some steam, my computer build is an i5-3570k processor, a GTX560 Ti GPU and 6 GB of RAM, I've played games like Battlefield 3 and Crysis 3 on high setting an they go really smooth, but for some F-kin reason this game runs slower than a turd's river. Only after lowering the resolution to 1280x720 and all specs at normal (the rest of the options are off) I can make this game run "smooth" but it looks like utter shit compared to other games (like the above mentioned) that look so much better and run far better. This is so much BS because I've liked CoD since the begginng and for a franchise that started on PC it's incredible how liitle they care nowadays for this version of the game, just like they did with Ghosts.
In the end is like they don't even care anymore, and I'm not gonna waste 400+ dollars to get this running better (no offense on those who do invest the money, just a personal decision). Either I'll have to wait for them to patch this shit or will have to ask a friend to lend me their xbox360/ps3 so I can finish it because I like CoD but DAMN does the PC version suck.

P.S: Even with the specs lowered the loading times take ages. Again, this sucks.

This game really tests your OC. Had to lower mine by 50mhz~. Normally stable in every other game (Sineplayer)

Getting really bad stuttering in my MP games as well.

Nvidias SLI support has been atrocious as of late. I am considering making a thread about it actually.

Yes, I was wondering if AFR has not had its day, given the last 6 months or so has seen really poor SLI support in new titles. This game, for example, NVIDIA release a driver that's explicitly for SLI support and it's basically just forcing AFR1, with awful results.

It could be that the engines for these new games are designed in such a way that AFR support is very difficult to do correctly, or it could be interested parties have suddenly become less interested for some reason.

afr is only going to get more and more difficult to use as engines get more advanced. its a dead end technology.

Well, it's always been a bit of a hack in my opinion. Hopefully, Microsoft are not blowing smoke when they say that DirectX 12 will have features that help developers make use of multiple GPUs in the system.

I am surprised no one is pointing out some of the tech issues that have been passed down from Ghosts.

The horrendous load times for one. Reloading the entire level when changing graphics settings, which should be taken out back and shot. I tried changing settings on the 1st level and was repeatedly forced to sit through 2-3 mins of cutscenes just to turn off shadow caching. I mean WTF?

It runs great on my 980 but then so does Ghosts, purely on brute force power. It ran like shit on my 670.

Coming to this after Alien Isolation, which runs at a rapid 60fps from beginning to end and is arguably the best looking next gen game so far, this just looks like an Xbox 360 game with a bunch of post processing effects added and a shit load of extra loading screens.

Yeah I know. That's why I tried upping to 4K and the damn cut scene at the start is unskippable.

Edit: son of a bitch. Left super sampling on with 4k so a little ridiculous and then go to turn it off, watch cut scene again.

:p

Fucking annoying as shit.

Doesn't work because the game uses UE3 and works in exclusive fullscreen at the highest refreshrate of the resolution that is into the game config in registry, doesn't look for desktop resolution/refreshreate.

Btw, in the case this will work, is not a fix in any way because I want to launch my games directly from Steam Big Picture without changing desktop options.

Thank you anyway.

This game isn't running on UE3 like at all. It's based on Quake 3 Engine technology.

Disable Shader Cache and levels load very quickly.

¿? That message is about DeadPool (an UE3 game). Yeah, a bit offtopic, but we were talking about games that need custom resolutions so DSR is not an option for Advanced Warfare because you lose compat with older games.

So I was running at a solid 90+ for the first two missions and then it drops down to 50 in Lagos. Anybody else getting this or know the reason. Running an FX-8350 and a 970.

Ah didn't read it clear then lol my mistake.

So i played a bunch of matches and hopefully they add dedicated servers asap but overall i enjoy the game a lot in multiplayer.

That level has motion blur if it is the highway chase. Maybe there is something messed up using both high motion blur and SMAA Tx2 fimic. Try disabling one of them.

Same thing is happening to a buddy of mine. Essentially his VRAM completely fills up and then the game crashes. Again only with the MP. He had a GTX770 and went out and bought a 970. Still has the same problem. The error that comes up is a "create2dtexture" error. He's even reinstalled the game. Anyone have any possible insight into the issue?

I have no real insight, but does he have the newest drivers? If he does maybe go back to an older one?

Verify the files.
