All the Cod games pre-2019 are unplayable due to planned obsolescence. Activision don't want you on the classic games they want you on the Cod HQ so they can sell you skins. I guess someone at Xbox didn't realise.

In Black Ops 3 you can get RCE'd just by being on the main menu.

Don't know why you're getting so irate when that's literally what GFWL was, which is what I'm stating.

The solution is actually far more simple though, the developers can just make sure the games they ship don't have vulnerabilities like this.

Damn I have fond memories of that game when It released. Me and many friends from cook school would login daily . I think it'll always be my favorite cod. The leveling system is fun, unlocking cards are fun. Also they should have never ditch the 3rd person lobby thing, inspired straight from destiny but still such a good addition. It added immersion.

I'd like Activision to return to that very same formula.

I don't think steam and xbox app players can play together, cross play was not a thing with COD until MW 2019; this game also doesn't exist on battle.net and seems to run on the xbox network itself.

Is this fundamentally different from any other unpatched software? Of course, it's on a curated platform, which does indeed make some difference.

MS should ideally have a couple of people monitoring for vulnerabilities, perhaps temporarily disabling games until a patch is available.

Microsoft is really special. When I downlaoded Black Ops 6 last week I couldn't get it to start without running a random script from reddit. And when I finally got in, the game kept crashing with a Direct X error because I was playing on extreme settings (despite my PC being strong enough) and that somehow leads to problems. I wasn't the only one that had to lower it to ultra to make the game work.

On one side, this is a well known terrible thing. And MS doesnt care, they want you to move to the next CoD. Sadly if you want to play some good CoD you have to use an Xbox/PS and play them. MW3 is well populated and the worse thing I have seen is some modded lobbies with infinite match points and like x9999 EXP.

CODWW2..? It's a game from a time before crossplay was default. I don't think it has crossplay on any platform - am I wrong? And the Xbox version is like 12 euros/dollars on key seller sites.

I understand your point. However, this is an approximately eight year old game, and even though both versions are for PC, they likely use different infrastructures, services, and digital ID systems. It's what we simply call technical debt, and it's unlikely that there would be financial incentive to put resources towards integrating them now.

Side note: COD WWII was a decent game. War Mode was an awesome mode. But the drawback was the game only came with 3 War maps. And the game loop got really repetitive. Other War maps you had to buy them as DLC or Seasons Pass I think. Fuck that. If it came with 6-7 War maps for everyone it would had made a huge difference.

I believe the exploit is done via a lobby, so theoretically anything where there's no lobby people can join should be safe
