Call of Duty WW2 On PC GamePass has an RCE exploit that lets people show them explicit content, shut downs their computer, and random pop ups.

All the Cod games pre-2019 are unplayable due to planned obsolescence. Activision don't want you on the classic games they want you on the Cod HQ so they can sell you skins. I guess someone at Xbox didn't realise.

In Black Ops 3 you can get RCE'd just by being on the main menu.

If you want to play one of these games on pc, download Plutonium or HorizonMW.

Trying to play COD4 on PC is fucking scary. Join a server and it starts to install all kinds of scripts, automatically directs you to a Russian server with aimbot turned on and low gravity.

So you want Microsoft to bring back GFWL and charge people to play PC games online?

You might well get their wish when they officially launch "Xbox PC".
Season 6 What GIF by The Office

Where the fuck did that come from? I'm talking about running an executible inside a container, like Docker, to keep malicious actors from gaining access to your PC via RCE/ACE. Don't put words in my mouth.

Don't know why you're getting so irate when that's literally what GFWL was, which is what I'm stating.

The solution is actually far more simple though, the developers can just make sure the games they ship don't have vulnerabilities like this.

Damn I have fond memories of that game when It released. Me and many friends from cook school would login daily . I think it'll always be my favorite cod. The leveling system is fun, unlocking cards are fun. Also they should have never ditch the 3rd person lobby thing, inspired straight from destiny but still such a good addition. It added immersion.

I'd like Activision to return to that very same formula.

MS should not have released this on PCGP. They knew about this.

I still play older CODs and only on console for this exact reason.

Was that desktop background already there? Or was it a prank by the hacker?

Is steam and GP players connected with each other?

Have the game on steam and would love to boot it up again.

Is this fundamentally different from any other unpatched software? Of course, it's on a curated platform, which does indeed make some difference.

MS should ideally have a couple of people monitoring for vulnerabilities, perhaps temporarily disabling games until a patch is available.

Idk

Edit: Heh, CoPilot just warned me about this exploit, and it wasn't a part of my engagement/prompth with it. And it referenced this thread on gaf :D

The older Call Of Duty games have notorious RCE exploits. Microsoft did rerelease some of the older COD titles on the Microsoft Store which *might* be more safe since they run within an UWP wrapper.

Maybe i'm misremembering but aren't the Game Pass versions of these games the UWP wrapper versions, since PC Game Pass runs through Microsoft Store?
