A publicity paper of two pages in the last number of the Japanese magazine Famitsu probably reveals that the studio of Camelot development currently works on a RPG for a console new generation, Nintendo Revolution. Hang publicity are 'I would like to carry out what I always believed to be unrealizable.' and 'I would like to do something which I always wanted to do.'. Street pedlar seeks indeed programmers, originators and managers for the development of this RPG project. Street pedlar already worked on the series Shining Force for Sega, Minna No Golf for Sony Computer Entertainment, and Mario Golf, Mario Tennis and Sun Golden delicious for Nintendo.

If so, could that be the new title they're showing at E3?

Good news. I'm going to keep my eye out for this game at E3. And I'm glad Nintendo is planning to launch with a RPG, now bring over Square-Enix.

Weren't they supposed to make an RPG for Gamecube? Or did I totally miss it? I'm so behind on the news these days.

There were rumblings of a Golden Sun RPG for GC but obviously it might have been pushed back or whatever.

If it's original, I could care less. Camelot shat over everything whilst making Shining Force 3. I'd like to see them do it again.

You got me... Newtechnix is usually right on with their news, though.

Not a single japanese website is reporting or confirming this. And as Newtechnix never give any source/link/whatever I'm a little bit sceptical.

If they have the issue why don't they scan the two pages?

The latest famitsu is #845 and I don't see such an announcement :( The next issue comes out tomorrow.

Maybe the announcement on their website is saying it's in the next Famitsu. I dunno.

Jeuxpo says that the advetisement is on their website. Could someone check?

There's nothing. Only the usual vacancies but there are online for months now. And camelot's news flash is over two weeks old.

http://www.camelot.co.jp/

I don't understand why any french website isn't able to give any source or linkage. Jeuxpo says it's an advertisement on their website, Jeuxfrance says it's in the latest famitsu.

no source = no believe. It looks like we'll have to wait till tomorrow :)

It's in #846.
I got it a day early, and I believe all the other sites got their news from game-science.com as they seem like word for word translations of what I wrote. I don't mind that... just saying don't question the news because it's true!

A good example of why the industry only gets sequels these days :lol

And just in case anyone still doubts it :D

god I love Camelot,

they had me huddled over my origional GBA (no front/backlight) for 60+ hours ... Camelot is good people :)

From Jonny's website :D --

A two page ad in this week's Famitsu reveals Camelot Software Planning is working on an RPG for a next-gen console, presumably Nintendo's Revolution. The catchphrases in the ad are "I want to do what I never thought possible" and "I want to make something that I've always wanted." The positions sought are programmer, graphic designer and planner. Camelot have worked on the Shining Force series for Sega, Minna no Golf for SCE, and Mario Golf, Mario Tennis and Golden Sun for Nintendo. They are also known to be working on Mario Tennis for the Game Boy Advance.

"Presumaby" the Revolution? So, the ad just says Camelot is working on a game for a next-gen console; it doesn't specifically mention the Revolution? Darn.

They wouldn't be considering DS as a "next gen" machine, would they? I know, it's unlikely, but I just want to be absolutely sure we're talking about Revolution here..

I'd expect game announcements and possibly video for Revolution games at E3, but no playables. Of course, I'd love if they were playable..

Camelot stated in an interview a while back that 1) they aren't currently working on any DS games, though they have some ideas for the future, and 2) they have started work on their next project and would love to show it off at E3 if they could...This announcement only gives further proof to it being a Rev game, and I sure as hell hope they do show it off...

<3 Camelot

Playable or not, as long as I have some kind of Revolution graphic demo to look at at E3 I will be a happy gamer.

And isn't there a chance that this is the GCN game that was speculated on oh so long ago?

Takes a while to develop an RPG. Maybe Nintendo felt that it would be necessary to have one at Revolution's launch, so the project was transfered?

Reggie said in an EGM interview that we should expect to see something like with the DS, demos to show how the games will play. But then more recently someone from NCL said they were still considering how much to show (I think it was a PR guy), and NCL would have the last word so god knows.

Well, holy mother-f-cking sh-t. That's awesome if true.

I kinda wanted a Golden Sun 3 on the GameCube, but I certainly won't say no to a hopefully early Revo release instead.

Hmmm, I wonder if we'll be able to transfer data again, through our DSes?

New RPG series that isn't boring and plotless, plz

. I believed the hype in Golden Sun and bought Golden Sun: The Lost Age with my GBA SP. The only good things are the nice Mode 7 visuals and the puzzles to solve. It's terrible. Bad story, bad characters, hideous battle system. Very unpolished.

Camelot seems to be Nintendo exclusive these past few years, by choice, no less.

I think their last game for a non-Nintendo entity was the atrocious Beyond the Beyond for the PSOne... and published by Sony, IIRC. There was some bad blood between Camelot and Sony, I believe Camelot felt that Sony pressured them to release BtB WELL before it was ready (which probably contributed to it's complete ass-ness.) Since then, they seemed to find a home with Nintendo. Something like that.

It was written, played and sounded a lot better than some RPGs on the PS2 "THE RPG CONSOLE!" and GC which I will not bother to name. Personally it was the first RPG where the dungeons did not piss me off - that in itself needs to be praised mysteriously.

Yeah, the dungeons in Golden Sun and particularly the sequel were very nice. Script needed an editor as the characters rambled on far too long for a portable RPG, but other than that it's a good series.

This from an FF8 fanboy?

never played golden sun, but camelot rocks. 3 more months and we'll probably see a video of this and other revolution games. E3 is getting closer. XD

Babelfished.

"Which extent originality?, how it can enjoy the prayer?"

The game software which キャメロット designs entirely has been rooted there.

Because abundant fund, enormous time, the mass staff was poured, saying

It is not the case that it can do the funny game.

As for being required,

It is conception, is personality of the production person, is originality.

As for キャメロット,

So far such a work was sent out to world.

And,

You intend probably to keep creating such a work even from now on.

For the next generation machine for RPG development, new staff collection!

I think they did the first Hot Shots Golf game.

Well I got this...

Hot Shots was developed by Camelot Software, which is best known for RPGs, not its sports games. These are the people behind the Shining series on the Genesis and the Saturn, and the execrable Beyond the Beyond on the PlayStation. Gotta love those big-headed characters, though. As designers, however, they've always had a talent for powerful interfaces and clean, deep gameplay.

and this.

I think I have the game around here somewhere...

The original Hot Shots was developed by Camelot and was a huge thing back on the old PS1. Of course the fallout between Camelot's distaste towards Sony led to them running to Nintendo who then shoved them on Mario Golf which is why Mario Golf plays eerily similar to Hot Shots... just a bit better :lol

Add to it that you enjoyed FF8, and your credibility is out the window. I guess there wasn't enough angst in it for you?

Golden Sun rocked. Well, moreso the Lost Age.

So, what rules out PSP, Xbox2 and PS3? Camelot is not a Nintendo second party are they?
PS3/PSP are ruled out because Camelot hates SCEI. It could be a Xenon game though.

Nope, Camelot developed the first Minna no Golf themselves. Clap Hanz (who was formed specifically to take over the series) is made up of some former Camelot memebers and SCEI staff.
