Camera control problems in Mario DS?

I remember some people saying they had camera control problems (Vibri).
Some of the reviews mentioned it too.
I'm not seeing it though. Anyone having problems with the camera?

I think it works even better than the 64 version. (I'm using Touch mode btw).

Agreed. There are so many things I actually do better because of the camera control in Mario 64 DS. If you use touch control, then have then X and Y buttons as camera rotating with the L button centering behind his back, it's great.

You can actually press the X and Y buttons at the same time and it will center the camara behind for you. So you don't have to cramp your hands trying to press the L button and using the thumb strap. Was a life saver for me. :)

Depends on what control scheme you're using. I don't like the touch sceen control, so I'm forced to use the d-pad - which basically gives you very poor camera control options.

wait, seismologist can say nice things too? I'm confused.

But yeah, simply being able to center the camera should make several previously annoying sections bearable. The wandering camera really used to annoy me in the N64 version, especially doing the high wire stuff (narrow ledges etc)

The camera is fine for me. I'm using the touch screen for movement. How are people using the d-pad?? I admit, it took about 15-20 stars before I really got good with the touch screen, but now I'm just as good with that as an analog stick.

you must have me confused with someone else. I always say nice things about the DS. The lil system rocks.

I'm about 95% efficient with touch screen analog (no thumb strap). Sometimes I make a bad move but it's usually because I'm rushing and not paying attention.

you're using the stylus instead of thumbstrap?

Is it just me that really enjoys the d-pad? I have no problem pulling off moves or walking a narrow ledge. Tried the other methods but went back to the d-pad quickly, of the other two, the dual hand mode seemed like the most comfortable. Maybe I've got stupid samllhands.

Have to agree on the camera, they've improved it in a number of suituations. The big bridge on the first snow level used always give me trouble on the N64, analogue stick and all. The camera used always move as you can towards the jump, doesn't happen anymore. There are a few other instances like this, and of course centering the camera behind you has made a huge difference. Up to 31 stars now and have loved every minute.

Really? Because I'm using the d-pad and I haven't had a problem. You know you can rotated the camera with L by holding it down and moving the d-pad right? I haven't had many issues outside of areas where the game just doesn't let you move the camera, but that's usually because of a wall or something.

So basically the control issues gets sorted out after a dozen or so stars, just like it was in the original back when we all first played it?

I haven't imported a DS yet but will easily get Mario 64 for it.

It's basically feels like your using a small analog nub.
So it works but its not as easy to play as the N64 version. You just have to pay closer attention to your control and the camera position. Shouldn't be much of a problem for most people here.

The camera works great though, IMO.

Yeah, the thumb nub, once you gets used to it, is a perfectly adequate replacement for a joystick. It's not as good as a joystick, but it certainly gets the job done. You just have to give yourself time with it because it is completely new for most.

As for the camera, no problems at all with touch-mode. My hands are always on the X and Y buttons for quick rotating... kind of got into the habit of it with SMS and the C-Stick. I always need to be in full control of the camera.

I miss the "lock camera behind mario" feature of SM64, and its absence is painfully clear when the camera insists on rotating while I walk on narrow ledges. Besides that, no complaints about the camera here.
