I tried googling but really could not find as much info as i would like.

I was wondering What kind of SAP certifications are out there? what are the best?

How are the career oppertunities ? IS it worth the money?

Im a total n00b so im sorry if i sound totally ignorant. I just want some info before making the commitment.

Oh man. If you could get SAP certified you'd be in the moola. However, they're incredibly rare because (as I've heard and I might be wrong) only SAP can get it and SAP partners, and even then it's a hard thing to do. But if I'm wrong someone please let me know, I'd sign up for it in a sec.

Regarding certification - I know people who have passed some of the SAP certification exams and never actually used the software. You have a week long class, memorize everything you can, then take the test.

Regarding hot SAP modules - The best skills to have right now are in the SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) or CRM (Customer Relationship Management) area. BW (Business Warehouse) isn't a bad skill to have either.

SRM is really picking up steam...not a bad industry to be in :)

I'm sort of a technical JDE guy - not certified but I've got about 10 years of exp that can get me in anywhere if need be. However, right now I'm trying to transition to the business side of things now more than the technical because I'm a wee bit bored (and a little sick of the whole on call/ after hours stuff.)

Anyway - I never really thought of SAP as something you could just go and get certified in and still make a fortune. If you're going at it from a technical aspect, you may be better off starting with Oracle, getting in a company that's going through an SAP implementation, and then pick it up that way.. There's a lot more to ERP/MRP/CRM/SRM/APS than just the software package.
