We all know about the Age of Empire-rumour for the Nintendo DS after DVDBoxOffice started listing the game. However, today I stumbled upon an image actually showing AoE.

I've got a 98% feeling this is a fake image, however I can't prove it. Normally I recognize a screenshot from a PC version or something similar, but this time it looks like the guy who created this (*if* it is a fake) took his time to think things through.

For example, the original PC AoE games featured the building icons in the bar on the bottom. The image shows the buttons on the touchscreen, but not in the original bar.

So, there must be a few AoE-addicted GAFfers around here willingly to prove this thing fake (or genuine)

You don't need any proof other than common sense:

1) They wouldn't put the "buttons" on the top screen considering you can't touch them. If the display controls were actually on the top screen, the interface would be more facilitative of using the D-pad.

2) They wouldn't leave that blank space on the top unused.

Not disputing it's fake, but the above issue has been resolved already in DS games. Games like Feel the Magic have a tiny button that "switches" the top and bottom. So both top and bottom have touch buttons, and there's no set top or bottom picture. You're just switching the top and bottom constantly whenever you need to hit a button on one or the other.

Surely this is a genre where the DS could kick the PSP's ass. I think they should try and get some of the classic strategy games on the sonsole because it the developers will have no trouble making use of the DS's special features.
