Can I use my computer speakers with my consoles?

Ever since I got my Xbox and have been watching anime through it, I realised that the sound would be going through our TV set up, which isn't as great as the PC speakers I used to use. Anyone know what kind of converter or whatever I'd need to send sound from my consoles into my PC speakers?

method 1 with pc: buy a female Y to stereo 1/8 miniplug, plug your xbox audio into the Y connection and then to the line in on your computer, control speaker volume from the pc

method 2 without pc: you'll need volume control on your speakers externally, buy a female Y to stereo 1/8 miniplug, buy a stereo miniplug to stereo miniplug coupler, connect the line to the mini plug of the speakers

Similar to his method 2, I have a male Y to female 1/8 converter that I use. Regardless of whether you go by mine or his, if you can get the converter part to come OUT of the TV (I've got a splitter going to both surround sound and headphones) then the TV volume control will do. Having it split off before entering the TV I didn't have any volume control, which is quite a pain.

:lol, pretty funny, I found all the equipment required here at home (we have loads of audio stuff).

It is annoying not being able to adjust the volume with the remote, as I now have to get up and hit the button on the subwoofer. I'll look into splitting the sound after it goes through my TV though, sounds easy.
