Can someone explain to me how Messi is so good at football

Interesting enough YouTube saw fit to push me a short about Messi even though I don't follow football.

Not sure how true this is, but it does reflect high iq athletes being able to approach and analyze the game mentally and pick your defense apart.

Their defense. or offense It's true though, he's a class act. Never saw him live.

Local pub had a pic of him with the landlord. Not sure I believe it but I got his Father a hooker anyway.

Fun times. I was well looked after. (so much ham, actual ham.)

Not even a fan of ham. From a Barca pub though it's off the bone, the real shit.

Then his missus (son) left him. A sad sad affair. Bar Jordi.

Was close to the Neu Camp. And had a sentry guarded prison.

I thought it was an old-folks home. Why sentry towers and guns?

Anyone who's not an athletic machine (and even them) will tell you that running around the pitch is just a waste of energy and not sustainable for 90 minutes.

Messi is a rare futbolista who has some innate talent that has been apparent since those videos of him playing as a kid. And we have all the hindsight to see that it wasn't just some fluke. Look at him play as a kid, then teen, going into the Barca academy, and all of his career. He's only refined and has a lot of the same traits now that he had when he was 8.

It's quite amazing to see how consistent he's been and you can't move the goalpost or restructure the debate anymore. He's an elite winner and the WC is the ultimate cherry on a super rare career.

Much like us some of us have the privilege of gaming chairs, he has the privilege of sporting the best cleats optimized just for his feet.

I will blow your mind.

What do football players do all the time? They run.

Now check how much do GOATs of long distance running weight? First man to run a marathon below 2 hours - 52kg.

Messi has a lot of qualities, but muscles = endurance is a myth, gym bros mostly gas out incredibly fast.

Football accommodates different types of physique. But size and athleticism still matter. Messi strengthened his lower body to withstand the body press. This is important for smaller players like him and Salah. Coutinho couldn't build a strong body so couldn't last even though he had great talent. Same thing for Michael Owen. These days many players don't make it in the top leagues compared to 15 years ago because of their body size.
