Can we get Lost Odyssey ported and remastered

Should've happened since a long time ago. Give me Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon

This might be the perfect time to do so though for the reason you stated

One of the best RPGs of the past 20 years. It felt more like FF than anything FF has done since IX. More people need to experience this game, they need to port it to PS5 and even Switch 2.

What a donkey

Who hates money?
Money, yes, and allowing countless more people to experience the game for the first time if they never bought an Xbox. And making it high res and high framerate for people who did play it back in the day. Should be meaningful for a creator.

And can we talk about this GOAT tier opening to a RPG ? I used to invite friends over to just let them experienced this and watched their jaw dropped when it switched to the actual game

For me this was the next Final Fantasy game.

I would add The Last Story too that he should remaster. Poor game is stuck on Wii.

I guess he's too busy with mobile games to give a fuck. Strange guy.

Not every game needs to be remade.
ICO is not "every game". ICO was influential for so many games. From Prince of Persia to Journey to Last of Us to Dark Souls, almost any artsy-fartsy game and any game with escort missions, an ambient sound design or a lonely environmental design was inspired by it.

They only need to put Bluepoint on it, specifically exclusively the guys who worked on SotC, and everyone would be happy.

We never get the things we truly want in gaming :messenger_unamused:

The only reason I've kept an Xbox or two is for these games and the disc version of Driver San Francisco.

Would love to play it. Heard the emulator isn't quite stable with this one so let's hope for a port of some kind down the line.

Also, thanks to Lost Odyssey, I was made aware of Inoue Takehiko, who designed the characters for the game. Takehiko is also a Mangaka and made, among other things, Vagabond. And Vagabond is fucking amazing.

Now that Xbox is a third party publisher rather than a competitive platform holder, it makes little sense to keep Lost Odyssey locked down to a single platform. Its lifetime sales were reportedly under one million units. Would be a low effort win. Blue Dragon too, if that's your thing.

Sakaguchi reportedly has "no interest" in doing so, but that's ridiculous at this point.
This man got it all.
The story is not even finished at this point so it needs a Remaster AND a follow-up.

I don't care about Blue Dragon but Lost Odyssey would be a cool revival.

A dream would be Shift Up making a new Magna Carta.
The series had some potential, i enjoyed 2 despite its flaws.

True, Vagabond is one of the best manga ever.

I remember that the last couple of volumes started to build up the inevitable fight between Musashi and Kojiro, but it never happened. The volumes just stopped coming out.

Ten years of indefinite hiatus and counting, yeah. Hopefully some day.

I am 100% in favor of this, and I'd argue that Lost Odyssey was the best thing that came out of Microsoft trying to appeal to Japan during the 360 era.

It doesn't matter if Sakaguchi doesn't want to do it - it's not his call.

It doesn't matter that it works on Series X - that's a half-assed solution for a game that deserves way better.

Re-release it and do it right. The strong cult following for a game like this and the fact that it still looks good and does great things with its gameplay and story pretty much guarantees it'll do well.

Also EviLore EviLore , you could always take an inspiration from Operation Rainfall and start...Project Downpour (?) which should be easier to garner attention with the state of modern social media.

Haven't replayed Lost Odyssey fully again, but I still think it looks and plays fine on Xbox Series consoles.

If I remember, this game didn't even make the cut for being being brought as backwards compatability for the Xbox one. Such a shame, and waste of a great IP.

I was going to post a picture of a few books of his I've got, including the new larger hardbound compilation, both 1&2 which look amazing. But alas I keep getting upload failed errors.
Alas, a truly great artist.

It'd be cool if these games were ported nicely. I imported the OST's too.

Goddamn, man. This is beautiful.
Yeah they did a great job and with the larger size one can see so much more detail. Compared to a normal tonkoubon the books are quite impressive, and pack 728 pages while the second has 600+ as will the 3rd book releasing in July. I'd say they're comparable to the recent Berserk Deluxe editions in overall size(7x10 inchs roughly and 600-700+ pages) but perhaps the Takehiko works are a bit clearer with better inks.

Like seriously, how hard is it to port these 2 games? The Lost Odyssey transformation from CG to real-time at the beginning of the game is stuck in my brain of how awesome that game looked and still looks to this day. That first battle had my jaw dropping when it was released.

Just port it pc. It shouldn't be that hard, even if it was an emulated port and not a real remaster will still be ok with me .

MS just sucks sometimes beyond any brain's understanding.

I wouldn't be happy. I think remaking games are already hold classic status is a waste of time, money and resources. That's my argument in the first place. Thanks for the telling me about a game in my top 5 though.

I got this edition and was so enthralled by this game. To this day I still hum its soundtrack randomly lol. Would love a proper remaster or a sequel.

The benefit of the living in the age of remasters is bringing these games stuck on single platforms to modern stuff that we can played by everyone.

Lost Odyssey is an interesting game that I think would warrant some excitement, just hit 60fps at 4k with some AI upscaled textures if they wanna be basic with it.

Do you remember where you've bought them? I have suddenly this urge to spend some money...

As someone who would probably very much enjoy giving this a try, are you guys sure this isn't one of those cases where a game got the Xbox exclusive treatment and everyone started blowing smoke up its ass, just like Tales of Vesperia? I remember people were crazy for that game, calling it the best in the series while it was exclusive, yadda, yadda.

Then the remaster comes out and lo and behold, it's just...good? Okay? Not the ground breaking, earth shattering masterpiece people called it. Is this the same or no?

No one under 35 knows what that is. there is no brand recognition.
Never mind how most of Neo is PlayStation central and wouldn't even bother with the 360, much less Mistwalker

The worst part mind, was how Xbox put aside some $500 million for bloody Kinect instead of using that money for sequels to Lost Odyssey, Alan Wake 2, PGR 5 allowing DICE, BioWare to go to EA
