Nope, no refunds on gift cards.

Also, if you purchase something with a gift card, and you attempt to return it, the money will be returned to you via a shiny new gift card. No exceptions to that. You get your money back the way that you bought it. Only exceptions are checks under $100 are refunded via cash. Checks over $100 and cash purchases over $250 are refunded by the corporate offices cutting you a check and sending it to the address of your choosing.

what about buying and returning it to wal-mart?

Sure, they'll probably give you a gift card, but you can use that to then re-buy the item online from wal-mart at the lower price.
