Cancelled Am Cry

Thought of a few more:

Cancelled (Development):
• Dark Alliance III (PS2, XBox)
• Legend of the Blade Masters (DC)
• Lunar III (PS2)
• Towers II: Plight of the Stargazer (GBC)

Cancelled (Localization):
• Evolution: Eternal Dungeons (NGPC)
• Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi (GBA)

There is a pretty strong chance of Dark Alliance resurfacing, though, as Snowblind Studios recently obtained the rights to the IP (soon after Interplay's demise). They don't have the D&D license, however, so it'll be interesting to see what direction the series takes from now on... Well, if it returns, that is.

Geist Force for the Dreamcast.

I don't think anyone will remember that title. :P

-edit-
*ROFLMAO* I spoke too soon. Lately I've been posting, then reading. It's kinda like speaking before thinking, if you think about it. Then talk about it..?

Any truth to these or merely speculation?
BOF3 was originally announced at E3 1996 as multiplatform. DQ7 was unofficially in R&D for Saturn for awhile after Enix dumped the 64DD plan, but market conditions forced a move to PlayStation eventually. MGS was rumored in Japan after Suikoden/Castlevania/Vandal-Hearts were ported, it likely would've used the ill-fated Eclipse upgrade cart and been outsourced outside Kojima's team.

-Deep Fear (Sega)- I don't think Sega of America ever planned to release this in America. Now europe got a release.
Not officially announced, but it was planned.

sonic4ever said:
-Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom (Capcom) I think this didn't come out becuase it took to long.
Sort of. It was announced by Capcom USA way back in 1995, but Capcom Japan delayed the Saturn/PSX ports and eventually threw in Shadow Over Mystara to make it a Collection on Saturn, while killing the PlayStation release entirely.

sonic4ever said:
-Grandia (Sega) I don't recall Sega of America ever saying they would bring this game out.
Sega of Europe did though. And again, it was unofficially planned like Deep Fear... had Bernie not killed Saturn publishing outright, I bet we'd have gotten both games in America for fall 1998.

-Lunar: Silver Star Story (Working Designs) yes, this was canceled, and to this day I dislike Working Design becuase this game was canceled, and switched to the PS1. Vic could have released the Saturn Lunar along side the PS1 version, but it was ok to realeasa a buggy Magic Knight Rayearth. He said He had released Magic Knight Rayearth for the fans, but he didn't think of the fans when he canceled Lunar.
Agreed. It was a gigantic FU to not only Sega of America, but all American Saturn fans too. No matter Vic's intetions, this still seems like it was mainly a big excuse to jump a sinking ship.

sonic4ever said:
-Policenauts (Konami).. Yes Konami didn't bring this out becuase they couldn't release it on the ps 1.
They could've but they planned it as Saturn exclusive since Snatcher was a Sega CD only release here. After the Saturn game was killed due to market conditions, Kojima rose to fame thanks to MGS and has prevented any possible localization of the PlayStation port. :/

-Sakura Taisen (Working Designs) Actually Vic was interested in this game but he decided not to bring this out becuase he had just released Dragon Force. Vic was tired of strategey games.
He wanted to do it (and Red had actually asked him to iirc) but by then WD was already planning their exit strategy.

sonic4ever said:
-Steamgear Mash (Atlus) I never heard that Atlus was bringing this game out.
Yep, officially announced alongside Devil Summoner and Lunacy.

sonic4ever said:
-Thunderforce V (Working Designs) Vic was considering bringing this game out, but then he jumped ship, so he brought it out on the PS 1.

-Thunderforce Collection (Working Designs) Sega actually stopped this game from coming out.
Both these were planned iirc, they were victims of the WD exit like Lunar.

-WipEout 2097 (Sega) I never heard that this game was coming out.
Unofficially planned. Another victim of Bernie.

sonic4ever said:
-X-Men Vs Street Fighter (Capcom) this was not coming out. the only way Capcom would have brought this game was if Sega brought out the ram cart. Sega didn't want to pay the extra money.
Capcom USA was looking into releasing it themselves, even going so far as to try to work out an exclusive for a Best Buy only release for RAM cart. It was officially announced for Europe though (where Sega had promised to release the RAM cart themselves).

sonic4ever said:
A game that was going to come out was Paridous by Konami, but because Sony didn't want the game, Konami canceled it for the saturn too.
Forgot about that one. :)

Europe actually got alot more games then America for the Saturn. For the European Saturn, the games they came over to American: wipeout 2097, Kieo Flying squadran 2, Paridous, Deep Fear, the first King of Fighters with the ram cart, Mega man X 3, and some other Psygnoises games.
Let not forger that Europe got Rez, Fighting vipers, Headhunters, and Shenmue2 for the Dreamcast. Gee Sega treats Europe better then America.
It's true. Europe also had Resident Evil 2, X-Men Vs Street Fighter and Grandia localizations officially announced (though all were eventually canned).

As bad as NOA and SCEA are at times, they've rarely fucked over their fanbase like SOA regularly did. :(

Oh and Evil Twin for the Dreamcast. I really wanted this game badly at one point. Though I eventually found it through very dark waters one night while sailing.:)

Actually it WAS released for the Dreamcast, but in Europe. Once again Sega fans of America got screwed.

Actually it was Big Ben interactive that published these along with the distribution of the DC itself after the 'announcement'. SOE aren't that good.
