Washed the car today and saw something I have never seen before. These black marks/splotches/dots embedded into the paint, it is under the clear coat!!!!

I do no think this is artillery fungus as this is smooth to the touch.
I do not think it is tar.
I tried wax, goo gone, clay bar, took it to my detailer who wet sanded it down until he no longer felt comfortable and he worried about damaging the paint. He was vexed!!!
WTF is this?
I thought it was heat from the turbo fkn with the paint but under the hood all is well.

Is it possible that it is a heat-related partial delamination of the base layer of the paint, created by the exhaust side of the turbocharger and downpipe. Is that why I wouldn't see damage under the hood because the temperature isn't high enough to deform the metal alloy - just the paint on the top side.

Sometimes it's an indicator of problems with the turbocharger system itself - partially plugged oil feed line, etc., leading to a rise in temperature and eventual failure. Mostly it's a shielding or paint composition issue.

Does anyone agree with this?

Could be, heat can damage paint.
I summoned highrider highrider for you, he is a professional and does car painting for a living, and from what I've seen is very good at it.

Thank you, I’m going to take it out for a spirited drive right now and if that spot is hotter than the rest of the hood I will know that it’s heat related. BRB.

Well I took it out for a hell of a spirited run, the hood was not hot or even warm from the turbo, of course under the hood it was hot.

Get some detailer and a clay bar and see if that’ll remove it don’t try and hit it with cutting compound as you’ll just push it further into the paint work.

I did both, no luck.

If your detailer feels unsafe taking the paint down further then it would be body shop job to correct. If your worried about heat damage check the thermal padding under that spot to make sure there is plenty.

It's shame OP because that bodywork looks nice, guess you maintain it well.

Thank you, yes I take care of it better than I take care of myself.

Don't complicate it, shoot that car with water, finish etc. I don't care what you come up with get that shit off your car.

I’m leaning towards paint failure due to heat from the turbo. I’ve been during around for two hours and that spot is slightly hotter than any other on the hood.
