i didn't go to AA to find god, I went to get sober.
I did get sober, but I didn't find god, I'm just the same old agnostic I've always been, I just don't drink.
There is a lot of bullshit in AA, there is a lot of wisdom in those rooms too. Take what you can use, and leave the rest in the rooms.
AA told me I had to get sober for myself, the problem was I didn't give a shit about myself. I didn't give it over to god, I did it because I love my kids and I didn't want them to become a train wreck like I was.
tl/dr AA sucks, but it does work. Keep trying different meetings till you find one that fits.
