Neo Geo Pocket Color didn't make a commercial dent against Game Boy when it slid into the handheld market, but it certainly found a sweet spot with gamers. Card battlin' fighter SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters proved especially most popular, and while fans begged for a sequel, it wasn't meant to be.

Not on that platform, anyway. Wandering around Tokyo Game Show, 1UP discovered SNK has announced plans for SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters DS. Can you honestly think of a better platform for the game to land on?

No way. The stylus will help speed-up one of the best games ever. Hopefully there'll be two cartridges again, one SNK, the other Capcom.

Falcoon is doing the art. I have no idea who that is, but it's not in the story yet because the server hasn't refreshed.

OMG I would shit myself.

Hell yes. Card Fighters Clash single-handedly made the NGPC worth owning. The stylus is a natural for this game. Awesome news, this has sold a DS to me.

I've been trying to avoid buying a DS but god damn, now I must own one.. Sigh, I guess its for the best?

Wow, SNK makes a good decision for a change. Rock on. Course, the question is, will they release it in the states?

CFC and CFC2 were my fave games on the NGPC. With CFC coming out on the DS, I actually have a good excuse to sell that sumbitch. Methinks there'll be an auction with Faselei, Evolution, and some other misc carts appearing on eBay soon.

Here's hoping that the same freaks who didn't play Advance Wars 1 and 2 when they were on the GBA, but went ga-ga for the game on DS, will do the same for Cardfighters Clash... the coolest card battle game evar.

Between this and Disciples 2 for DS...and PSP with new GnG, SFA3, the megamans, etc...fucking handhelds are going to make me go bankrupt.

Cool, but I fail to recognize how the stylus gimmick can make this game any more accessible. :/

Choosing cards, and having your hand on one screen and the play field on the other.

I love to bash the DS when its deserved but this is perfect.

What!! Holy hell, why doesn't this news have it's own stickied thread. Need pics and release date and any other news pronto.

Still does not compute.

It wasn't like playing CFC was ultra high intensity. Folks, this is poor justification for a NintenMeme. :/

Don't worry....its not for you.

I worry, because developers are using a screwball justification for designing games on the NintenD00DS.

Don't get me wrong, this is exciting news - but CFC clash can be done on a cell phone or any other portable device for that matter. I guess the stylus is long enough to successfully lobotomize people though. :\

Why not GBA?

Read my earlier post. Or don't...you don't thrive on logic here anyway.

As Krypt points out, you can use the touch screen for playing cards and use the other screen to see effects and etc. While you can do it on GBA and junk, it's easier to do it with a stylus not that it benefits it much. It's definitely easier after having played the DS Yugioh game.

Every single time there is something on the DS and now on the Rev, the same people have to go in the thread and say "meh lame gimmick". While I can understand you guys being pissed when good games are announced for the gimmick systems, it really pisses me off when the vibes of said game goes down when you guys complain about it. Some games that you thought were never going to revive franchises and make sequels like CFC, really dont deserve it.

Truth.

I disagree Shouta, and hopefully SNK will not force players to use the stylus if they choose not to.

As far as having a screen for input and one for visuals, that's a load of crap since my visual focus can only ever be in one place at one time. Hell, even in games like Parappa or Bust-A-Move where the inputs appear over the action; it's difficult to parse the on screen antics because you're focused on inputting the proper commands.

Ah well gimmick laden appears to be the way of the Nintefuture so I guess I had better get used to it. Hopefully a Shantae sequel on a Nintendo portable won't make pointless use of the touch screen. >:|

Edit: I'm gonna fire up CFC and refresh my memory.

When you do, imagine being able to play it without the d-pad and buttons. It makes the play much smoother.

Wait, there are still people who don't have a DS. O_o

You guys think it wasn't going to be successful or something, what's the hold up?

More than likely you'll have the option to play it normally via button presses--like, you know, most DS games. Hell, you can play Meteos without a stylus! :lol

Well, after a couple minutes of figuring out how in the hell the NGPC powered on without going into the set up screen; I booted the game and got to playing.

So I dorked around getting reaquainted with how things worked. Got into a card fight. Used Amakusa, totally forgetting about card abilities. BAM! Amakusa kills all my cards in play and raises my SP. Then he totally kills my god damned batteries! OH SON OF A BITCH! What a powerful game card!

Replaced the batteries. Played a few more matches.

God damn this game rocked.

I still don't see how it could benefit from a stylus at all. Pretty much the only redeeming quality of slapping it on the NintenD00DS is wireless link play. I recall the peculiar feeling of uneasy intimacy between my friends and I when we linked systems. :X

Wow... funny the rest of us can see how it would benefit. You suck at visualizing.
