Carry Forward cancelled for BO7

First off, thank you. Call of Duty has always been fueled by the community. Every match, every clip, every bit of feedback; you've shaped this franchise right alongside us.

We know there's been a lot of conversation recently about the identity of Call of Duty. Some of you have said we've drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded. That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously. We hear you.

Throughout development, Treyarch and Raven's north star has been to deliver a spiritual successor to Black Ops 2 while taking some big swings. You'll see it across Black Ops 7's Multiplayer, Zombies, Co-Op Campaign (including Endgame), and even Dead Ops Arcade 4.

Over the years, we've had a variety of games and experiences that fans have enjoyed from the Modern Warfare series to the Black Ops series and beyond. Today, we wanted to share with you some of the ways we're approaching things with Black Ops 7.

What's Changing and Why

Operators, Operator Skins, and Weapons from Black Ops 6 will no longer carry forward into Black Ops 7.

Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting. That is why Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7. Double XP tokens and GobbleGums will still carry forward, because we recognize your time and progression are important.

This change applies only to Black Ops 7. Call of Duty: Warzone is not affected, and all your Black Ops 6 content stays usable there.

Interesting. They have listened to the vocal minority. I always felt like the majority of people who buy and play the game couldn't give two shits about skins. It's the gameplay that matters. When you see the vault edition skins, this makes no sense. You are still going to have these skins on day one. Bizarre decision.

I totally understand why people would be happy about this if they dislike the funny skins.

But my oh my what a crock of bullshit for the excuse. Unless MS outright bans the funny skins I cannot possibly believe this is anything more than MS wanting to juice everyone via new skin purchases, most especially those getting it for "free."

I actually just downloaded warzone for the first time 2 days ago to play with a coworker and literally bust out laughing when my squad was a bunch of tv characters, it was so dumb

I used to be on the side of 'no skins' but it's fuckin cod I couldn't care less now, its not a sim by any means anyway 🤷🏾‍♂️

You are telling me I could have paid $100 for the Ninja Turtles and the next game comes out that is still part of the live service and I do not get to continue using my Ninja Turtles.

Exactly. It's not a mil-sim. There's zombies for fuck sake.

No, its not a mil-sim but it IS or at least was a military themed arcade shooter, Zombies used to be its own thing before every mode started bleeding into each other.
That's all some people want is for it to stay thematically correct while keeping the gameplay intact. Seeing fuckin Nicki Minaj and beavis and butthead running out was straight up dogshit. Keep that shit in fortnite.

Turns out bitching online works.

Using word salad to make consumers think they are winning, while actually charging players a second time for the same skins, is diabolical. Fuck them, and honestly at this point if you are consumer and co-sign this nonsense, then fuck you too.

That's a positive sign I guess, but I'm sure it'll be frustrating for those that bought those skins and wanted them to carry over like they have for the past few years. Couldn't they have just had an option in the menu to only show default skins though? That way anyone wanting to see them can and the others don't.

I'm gonna laugh if they say this like they're on the side of those that don't want those skins, but then they're just gonna add other ones that are just as bad if not worse, lmao.

I honestly feel like the loudest voices probably don't even care about COD anymore, just folks saying how much "better" it was years ago because the collab skins didn't exist, lol. Come on man, COD has been dumb for years, embrace the ridiculousness and just have fun, lmao.

Yeah they actually don't bother me and alot of the collaborations are from stuff when I was a kid. CoD lost the serious military shooter motif for like over 10 years now. It's been a joke for so long and they are just embracing the absurdity.

Anyone who thinks that they won't have skins like beavis and weed rasta lizard by Christmas is an idiot.

They just want to hit up the paypigs for some more money, gotta pay off that $70 billion somehow.

y'all really need to stop suggesting this because it will never happen, it defeats the entire point of buying the bundles and their revenue would drop like a brick, which would mean no more free updates, get ready to go back to paying for 30$ map packs if you want to keep playing with everyone else.

I'm sure their metrrics show that SBMM keeps up 'engagement' in general, meanwhile many SBMM complainers will also just continue to queue while complaining. They could have colonized the "No SBMM" utopia that was XDefiant, but strangely they didn't.
Because xdefiant was rubbish. Plus you need some form of SBMM otherwise over time your player base dwindles and it becomes impossible for new players.

That said COD version is terrible for anyone who is slightly above average.

We're grounding this game again. No more stupid skins you already brought. Please pre-order deluxe edition now to get the arc reactor terminator joseph goebbels skin

Lol, this isn't a win for anyone but Activision.

All these people who don't play CoD say we shouldn't allow skins to carry forward? Sweet, we'll just sell them to these idiots again.

Really though, who the fuck cares? CoD was never "realistic." Nothing better than playing against a team full of these stupid ass skins that literally pop out of their environment making them that much easier to see.

Surprised ABK took this seriously. I didn't think they would care but I guess they saw something on their end that made them worried.
Yea that something is the crazy enthusiasm for BF6 even though the COD simps on this forum told me I was wrong for claiming BF is a legit threat to COD this year.

I didn't think COD was in any trouble at all honestly. Then again the games are becoming so expensive to make that even a small drop in users could really hurt them.

People are not preordering our game that much and we're afraid of Battlefield so we're going back to the roots as well, unless.....people buy the skins and battlepasses. They're not listening to the feedback, they're looking at their fucking wallets lmao.
